Smart marketing and excellent music has helped Yaariyan on its opening day, as the youth-targeted film has collected Rs 6 crore approx at the domestic box office.
The problem for the film, however, is the fact that the word-of-mouth is mixed to negative. Critics have thrashed the film and the reports that we’ve been receiving from exhibitors too isn’t great.
It remains to be seen if the film can sustain over the weekend, as the target audience (youth) tend to watch films on Friday and Saturday.
Produced by T-Series and directed by Divya Kumar Khosla, Yaariyan has also succeeded in comprehensively beating the other release this weekend – Madhuri Dixit’s Dedh Ishqiya which has collected around 3 crore on its opening day.

I was hoping this…from the makers of Aashiqui 2 was enough for young audience…
Yaariyan is like the worst movie i have seen in my life.People are seeing it for songs, this is heights of stupidity. If u want to watch the song then watch it on youtube man.
Now i am watching stalin on colour channel.
Yaariyan got superb collection without any star value, as its budget is almost 10-12cr so it will be an above average affair for sure.
Good. I think its more than the finest movie of the previous year spl26.. It shows akki sir is in bad phase of his career.
That’s a big opening for a film which is supposed to be a debut film for almost all the star cast. As expected, its music has done the trick. I don’t see it sustaining though.
waiting for jai ho.I won’t see yaar…….
@blockbuster salman, yariyan is far better than jai ho.crap ho will be the worst movie of the decade and will be a disaster.
Waiting for Bang Bang!!!!!
Nice Movie
Jai Ho will be be 2013’s first blockbuster
Yaariyan has got a superb collection in the opening week considering that it had newcomers and a first time director. It takes a lot of guts to make movie with newcomers. The last time this was done by Karan Johar with ‘Student of the Year’
