For the worldwide ranking of Top Bollywood stars in the industry, we have decided to keep things simple. The net collections from India would be added to the gross overseas collections. Only the Top 8 established stars both in India and overseas would be considered. The rest would retain their India ranking in the worldwide list too.
We suggest you take a look at our detailed ranking of Top Actors in India and Top Bollywood Actors Overseas (click on the links to read the full article).
India Ranking as of November 2014 (in brackets the total collections of their last 5 films)
- 1. Salman Khan – 846 cr

- 4. Hrithik Roshan – 665 cr
- 5. Ranbir Kapoor – 466 cr
- 6. Ajay Devgn – 449 cr

- 10. John Abraham – 332 cr
- 11. Saif Ali Khan – 322 cr

- 2. Shahrukh Khan – $70.5 million (? 427 cr) (-1)
- 3. Salman Khan – $44.58 million (? 270 cr)

- 8. Akshay Kumar - $14.25 million (? 85 cr)
Rank 1 Shahrukh Khan: They say Rajesh Khanna’s super-stardom cannot be matched, Salman Khan’s 5 back-to-back blockbuster record will be tough to beat and Aamir Khan has been very consistent in recent times, but the aura of Shahrukh Khan is beyond box office records. Ever since he made his debut, he has been consistently regarded as the biggest superstar in the country. In 2000 his stardom was compared to the craze around Hrithik, between 2006-2007 it was SRK vs Akshay, in 2008-09 after Ghajini and 3 Idiots it was between Aamir and SRK.. and since then it has been about Shahrukh and Salman. Yet, after all these years, a commoner from Delhi has achieved so much that he has nothing left to prove. That’s not to say he isn’t capable of breaking records, Chennai Express went on to be the biggest grosser of all time and the opening day business of Happy New Year should remain the biggest for at least a year.
The global success of Happy New Year has ensured that Shahrukh Khan tops the list once again.
- Happy New Year – 303 cr
- Chennai Express - 342 cr
- Jab Tak Hai Jaan – 202 cr
- Don 2 – 180 cr
- Ra. One – 191 cr
- Total - ? 1,218 cr (average ? 243.6 cr per film)
Rank 1 Aamir Khan: And guess what? We have a tie for the top spot, as the total worldwide collections of Aamir Khan films (Rs 1,218 cr) is exactly the same as that of Shahrukh.
While the other two Khans continue to hog the limelight, Aamir has been consistently delivering bigger grossers at the box office. As far as box office records are concerned, Aamir has been the one to set records that others have taken years to break. He gave the industry its first 100 crore grosser, and followed it up a 200 crore grosser – all this at a time when no other actor had even crossed the 100 crore mark at the box office. The record of 3 Idiots was only broken nearly 4 years after its release, when Chennai Express went on to collect Rs 227 crore. That same year, Dhoom 3 released and Aamir delivered the industry’s highest grosser once again. Dhoom 3 is not just the higher grosser in India, it’s also the biggest grosser in the overseas markets too. With PK scheduled to release in theatres next month, sky is the limit. It’s the combination of star power, fantastic script sense and the audience-trust in brand Aamir that has worked big time for the superstar.
- Dhoom 3 – 470 cr (India net + overseas gross for all films)
- Talaash – 144 cr
- 3 Idiots – 360 cr
- Ghajini – 162 cr
- Taare Zameen Par – 82 cr
- Total – ? 1,218 cr (average ? 243.6 cr per film)
Rank 3 Salman Khan: Until 2010, the problem with Salman Khan was his consistency. The films that he did for his friends and his laid-back attitude affected his career. His stardom though was intact. When he decided to cater to his audience, they came out in numbers to watch his films. In 7 films since Dabangg, he has 6 blockbusters – something that no other actor has achieved in the history of Indian Cinema.
- Kick - 303 cr
- Jai Ho – 149 cr
- Dabangg 2 – 211 cr
- Ek Tha Tiger – 262 cr
- Bodyguard – 191 cr
- Total - ? 1,116 cr (average ? 223.2 cr per film)
Rank 4 Hrithik Roshan: Hrithik should significantly increase the average collections of his last 5 films as his upcoming October release Bang Bang would replace one of his career’s biggest disasters Kites. He retains his fourth spot.
- Bang Bang – 263 cr
- Krrish 3 - 297 cr
- Agneepath – 157 cr
- Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara – 134 cr
- Guzaarish - 49 cr
- Total - ? 900 cr (average ? 180 cr per film)
Rank 5 Ranbir Kapoor: With two huge blockbusters, one critically acclaimed success and two failures, Ranbir, regarded by many as one of the best actors in the country, takes the 5th spot. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is his biggest worldwide blockbuster so far.
- Besharam - 77 cr
- Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani – 252 cr
- Barfi! – 145 cr
- Rockstar – 88 cr
- Anjaana Anjaani – 59 cr
- Total - ? 621 cr (average ? 124.2 cr per film)
Rank 6 Ajay Devgn: The huge success of Singham Returns has helped Ajay tremendously. He has gone past Akshay and also taken his average above 100 crore per film. He awaits the release of his upcoming film Action Jackson. The film needs to collect Rs 207 cr worldwide for Ajay to beat Ranbir.
- Singham Returns – 165 cr
- Satyagraha – 77 cr
- Himmatwala - 53 cr
- Son of Sardaar - 119 cr
- Bol Bachchan – 126 cr
- Total - ? 540 cr (average ? 108 cr per film)
Rank 7 Akshay Kumar: The failure of OUATIMD hurt him big time. It was expected to be his first 200 crore grosser, instead it ended up as his least worldwide grosser. The combined business of OUATIMD in India and overseas is less than Boss! His June release Holiday: A Soldier is never off duty collected 138 cr worldwide.
- Entertainment – 87 cr
- Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty – 138 cr
- Boss – 76 cr
- Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara – 74 cr
- Special 26 – 86 cr
- Total - ? 461 cr (average ? 92.2 cr per film)
Rank 8 Saif Ali Khan: His romantic comedies have done well, but his most recent release ‘Humshakals’ was a failure worldwide. Race 2 is his biggest grosser to date. We haven’t included his latest film ‘Happy Ending’, but the disastrous performance of that film will hurt him.
- Humshakals - 79 cr
- Bullet Raja- 42 cr
- Race 2 - 141 cr
- Cocktail - 102 cr
- Agent Vinod - 54 cr
- Total - ? 418 cr (average ? 83.6 cr per film)
Note: Worldwide Total = India net + overseas gross. Entertainment taxes has been deducted from India business.
sss romance expiry n all other srk fans.I want to remind u of srk career.srk debuted with deewana in 1992.the fim was a hit.after dat darr, baazigar n karan arjun were big hits n all other were flops or average.den in 1995 except ddlj which was of yrf all his film bombed.he did not given a single big hit till 1997.pardes was hit n den again yrf saved him wid dtph.in 1998 kuch kuch hota hai came which established him as a superstar.u can’t call a person superstar with just a big hit.if it is so den sam Worthington of avatar is biggest superstar.srk has not given continuosly hit before 2000.he has only 2-3 blockbusters n 3-4 superhits.
This is called sheer dominance. No matter how strong the competition, but SRK is able to hold his ground for so many years. He would go down in history as the most bankable star to come out of bollywood. It was Amitabh back in the 70s, Rajesh Khanna in 80s but SRK has been bankable from 90s to 2014 and still going strong.
He has been asked time and time to prove his dominance and he has done it every. single. time. Haters should just get stop doubting his consistency, stardom, and dominance.
@ INDICINE….u guys really tried in compiling all these statistics… Kudos… Cos ain’t an easy task!!
NO DOUBTS… SRK is topping d list but I think… Its kind of HARSH on AAMIR!!
based on ur lists…3 out of 5…of AAMIR MOVIES WERE IN BETWEEN 2007/2009!…THEN 1$ was 39 rupees(2007)
Ghajini2008…1$ was 42 rupees!
2009…3 idiots…($1 was 44 rupees!….automatically once u press d CALCULATOR BUTTONS….no doubts….D 60RUPEES TO $1…U r USING…will only bring AAMIR DOWNWARDS !!!
Look @ SRK oldest movie…raone!… 2011….$1 was 55 rupees!! Same wit SALMAN body guard and guzaarish(hritik).. 53-55$!…so HONESTLY AAMIR KHAN NEEDS ANOTHER CALCUTOR!!!!….now HW IS A RECORD BREAKER!!!!

the reason of salman at 3rd is underperformance of jai ho it could come on eid and with greater scale and heroine it had the potential to break all records but sohail did not direct the movie well also music was letdown thanks to salman for given eid to srk otherwise he could struggle to beat ready but no problemme salman has great line up and all are potential all time blocckbuster waiting for all upcoming movies love u bhai.
King Khan rockzzzz ? a fan from kerala
@ginger we means we all king fans and I talk in behalf of all king fans
Everyone expecting p.k will do 500 cr…Plingggg
what is the use of these rankings, when you observe that the best movies (content wise) from last 5 years are not from Khans(except Aamir):
1) 3 – Idiots – still the best movie.
2) Bhaag Milkha bhaag
3) Zindegi Na Milegi Dobara
4) Queen
5) Barfi
No doubt Indicine supports SRK big way, but fact is SRK is no comparison to Rajesh Khanna. Rajesh Khanna delivered 15 hits in 3-4 years. SRK did not even do 3-4 movies in last 3-4 years.
Hrithik was dominating the years 2000, 2003 & 2006. Salman and Aamir from 2008 to 2014…so from which angle SRK has been consistent in top…is it by doing craps like Ra.One, Don 2, HNY which were hit but content wise zeros.
@kartik ranbir upcomming films
1 bomby velvet
2 jagga jasus
3 tamasha
4 kjo’s next
5 ayan mukherji next
with the storng line up rk easily overatake with in 2or 3year, hr is nothing infront of rk forget khans
@indicine – lets be honest – but for Chennai Express , SRK has not been able to give any major grossers. Even HNY is an under performer.
No doubt he’s been very consistent……but guess one cannot call him no. 1 today……most of his films barring CE have been under performers in the last 5 years…..
akki will be back with baby. I am so desperate for trailer
@Ginger, Bulli is a anti SRK fan. This fool thinks he is funny, repeating the same nonsense over and over again. Thats why his name is Bulli, other name is freak of nature and fag. He also is a drag queen and totally obsessed by SRK. Without mentioning the name of his BAAP SRK, his comments are worthless.
According to not only me but also all the audience who love to watch good films those have very very effective message to wards our life and have also meaningful entertainment, every one have to accept that these are Aamir’s film. Beside box office record he also make good feel every moment. He is incomparable!!!! because he starts and other follow him!!!!
Aamir is number one and after PK it will be a one horse race as TZP will be removed from the list… Aamir roxxXxx
as best permomance delivered rank from starting of decade, 1- hrithik, 2- Ranbir, 3- Aamir, 4- Akshay, 5- ajay devgan, bcz of talaash n d3’s avrg performance by aamir i have to put him in low rank, while hrithik promising lot with performances like guzaarish, kites, agneepath, krrish 3, n 1 man show bang bang reminding u its only based on performance, ranbir promoses big with rockstar, barfi like performance, but he lose sm points cz of besharam, still above aamir only upto nxt aamir’s pk i knw aamir going to rock n performance of aamir will blow every1, akki, ajay r given versatile roles n many movies in which their performance was btr than salman obviously and btr than srk’s jthj, ra one, ce, hny like dull performance, mnik cant push him up bcz the other dull performance…. Dis is my top five best actors performance wise…..

Salman2

@jitender: pk can’t cross hny weekned before 7days, reality
HR was compared to SRK
Akshay was compared to SRK
Salman is compared to SRK
Amir is compared to SRK
RK will be compared to SRK
why???
We all know…
If anybody doesnt,he is an idiot…
@optimus Who compared all those with flop actor SRK? Maybe in your dreams. SRK was thrown out of league long back. DDLJ was his ruling time. Ater that Hrithik, Salman and Aamir have consistently given huge blockbusters and highest grossers while your flop actor was giving ‘hits’.
@bumblebee
i think u visit this site only to comment some nonsense… u should read what is written above..at least 5 or 6 lines…
Ur salman givining bbs only after 2010 & that too with bhojpuri remarkes…plz say something about his 35 flops?? Salman got 7 bbs succes ratio : 48%
Amir is a gr8 actor…bt he can only give bbs with quality & Dhoom francise whereas sk or srk can give bbs with medicore script…he has done only 3 films in last 6 yrs..He has 3 atbbs,4 superhits, 9 hits…succes ratio 54%
HR too is a gr8 actor..My 2nd favourite…bt has only 1 atbb in his whole career…SR 50%
SRK has 3 atbb,4 bb,5 superhits,15 hits SR 57%
He is Mr consistent since 1993,can ensure at least a hit with any kind of genre, can achieve awards & international recognization, can break records, give atbbs,is known all over the world & most importantly knows how to ACT…
Bro.,dnt live in dreams & sometimes use ur cerebral cortex…
@bumblebee

u said ce is the biggest grossor than 3 idiots and wrote ce-342 nd 3idiots-360 but the fact is ce-(227+121=348) & 3i-(202+126=328)
