Indicine: Akash, you are talking about a man who delivered the first 100 crore, 200 crore and 250 crore grosser! Four major Aamir Khan films have released since the first 100 cr grosser and only one of his films have released during a non-holiday weekend.
Its not just Aamir, the other two Khans have also tried their best to avoid releasing their film during a non-holiday weekend. Shahrukh Khan’s last normal release was My Name Is Khan (2010) and it didn’t collect 100 cr. Salman too has released all his films either during the holiday weekend or Post-IPL.
Coming to Talaash, it appealed only to a certain section of the audience and for its genre it did reasonably well at the box office. If 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 or the upcoming P.K release this week, it would still easily collect more than 150 cr.
And finally, Dhobi Ghat was an art film made on a budget of around 12 cr. It would be foolish to expect huge box office returns from the film.

The fact is akshays script selection is bad and he didnt try to create record.if welcome is a solo relise then that be the biggest bollywood grosser alltime.akshays every filim get huge opening in 2007-2010.after tmk his star power decrease,but he still top in mass centers along with sallu.if holiday become hit,he bounce back to top position.gabbar is a promising filim,singh is bling and hf 3 are hyped filims.so dont underestimate akshay kumar.

Only actor who has two films who became highest grosser in domestic and overseas. Only actor who has got huge success in both quality and entertaining cinema. Only actor who always been raising business level of bollywood. Only actor of his generation who won trust of his audience. He is only actor who had given two historical atbb back to back while one is entertaining and other is best of last 25 years for me best after Sholay. Only actor who had given successful films to unknown or flop director. Starting with indra kumar to rakesh omprakash mehra. He struggled in 90s for huge success but now success is behind him and following him. @sky u can compare Amir with sehwag who hit 2 triple similar to Amir’s record grocessrs but sachin is consistent throughout his career and score 51 centuries but never score even 250 similarly srk is most consistent throughout his career and gave maximum no of hits 25 compare to Amir and that also 6 came post 2006. Its funny to expect MNIK to collect 100 cr in 2010 as that was a relatively new thing then and only one movie had done it and that was a big south remake masala film (ghajini). MNIK was a social-message oriented film but not being able to achieve 100 cr in 2012 is more pathetic for tallish because silly movies like SOS, bodyguard, bol bachchan were able to get 100 cr. for these khans, their stardom alone should let them cross 100cr regardless of the release date..at least in the recent times when the business has expanded so much. its well established aamir doesn’t have the stardom and most people got to see his movie thinking the movie will be good..not to watch him necessarily.
