The trade had huge expectations from Veer and as of today, the Salman Khan starrer directed by Anil Sharma has managed to live upto it.
As we all know by now, business at multiplexes all over India was on the lower side (30-40%) right from Day 1 (Friday). Monday witnessed a further crash and the film has been rejected at the plexes. Collections down south are disastrous, business in two key centers in Karnataka – Bangalore and Mangalore – is way below expectations.
But what’s heartening is the fact that, the target audience of Veer, have taken to the film big time. Business at B and C centers in India is strong and the trending is pretty good.
Collections were strong on Friday, followed by a minor dip on Saturday, picked up again with Sunday recording the best collections for the weekend. Weekdays were always going to be crucial and the film has sustained well – Monday witnessed an expected dip in collections, but business on Republic day (Tuesday) was record breaking, similar to the boost that Wanted received on its first Monday.
Below are the day to day collections of Veer
- Friday – 7 crores
- Saturday – 6 crores
- Sunday – 7.5 to 8 crores
- Monday – 3 crores
- Tuesday – 6.5 crores
5 day total – approx 31 crores.
Week 1 is expected to be somewhere between 34 – 36 crores.
What remains to be seen in the next few days
- Can Veer sustain and match its Monday collections during the remaining two weekdays i.e today and tomorrow?
- Will the release of Rann and Ishqiya affect its collections? Unlikely to, since both releases this week are targeted mainly at the multiplex audience.

Notwithstanding with the poor reviews and negative comments, Salman Khan’s “Veer” is hitting high at the box offices in India and abroad. “Veer” tore into the critics like a gladiator and earned Rs 41 crore worldwide in the first week itself!
The weekend business of “Veer” stood at Rs 32 crore in India and rs 9 crore from the overseas market. This is the highest-ever earning for a Salman Khan movie during the first week in recent years.
“Veer” starred by Salman Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff and Zarine Khan, was released on January 22, 2010. It was released with 1,300 prints in India and 236 prints abroad. “Veer” did exceptionally well in Rajasthan, Delhi, UP, Maharashtra, Bihar and Gujarat.
“Veer” is based on a plot from the nineteenth century. It is a saga of bravery, drama, action and emotion. Even though it got poor reviews from the critics and movie experts, it silenced everyone with the amazing response from the fans of Salman Khan and probably from the common viewers.
The distributor of “Veer”, Eros International confirmed that the movie is doing exceptionally well and marching ahead to earn more in the coming days. Well, it may not break the records set by Aamir Khan’s “3 Idiots”, but it will certainly delight Salman Khan, who was upset with the poor reviews of his much-awaited movie.

Vicky: why should I keep it to myself: I’m free to write a review about a movie.. to say whether it’s good or bad as long as I’m not abusing the hero – which is Salman Khan – I’ve all the respect for him, and I loved his acting in London Dreams and Wanted.
Hina: If we find any movie not interesting, with a bad direction, with a bad shooting, with a loud silly background music which gives “headache” and we found ourselves unhappy watching it.. so that’s the result.. we can’t wait till the end.. why do we go to see a film? To enjoy.. right whether it was Salman’s movie or Shahrukh or Aamir’s or even for a newcomer.. that doesn’t matter because they’re all there for us to entertain us.. that’s their job.. but as I’m always saying.. everyone see any movie differently.. each one of us enjoy any movie differently.. so I’ve the right to say if a movie is good or bad.
And..even if this movie played for 100 of years in yr cinemas, it’d never change my mind

i am from pakistan and currently residing in middle east. me and husband are huge fan of salman khan.frist of all i wana say that the movie veer is a slap in face to all the critics who gave a really bad review coz of, i dont know, some hidden agenda against salman khan.we watched the movie on the very first day of release and the movie was incredible and sallu bhai is back with a great performance.everything about the movie is too gud.we went with some more friends last nite again and didnt do an online booking….so wat happened the house was full already.we actually went half an hour early……we have to go to another muliplex to see the late nite show which was almost full.i dont know how the movie is doing in india …..but sallu bhai is rocking in middleeast.i hope that the movie do really gud this week too coz its crucial. this is the best periodic movie and hope it becomes a legendary salman movie inshallah.

wid all due respect. u had already made ur mind up bout VEER before u went to see it. so now before MNIK has even been released u said its gonna break all records. well i cant say how its gonna do coz it hasn released yet. but wat i ahve seen so far (promos, music etc) i have a rough idea which i will keep discrete for now.
u see i have respect for SRK and his fans. but so many bast.rds tried to ruin VEER. FCUK all ov dem.
