The trade had huge expectations from Veer and as of today, the Salman Khan starrer directed by Anil Sharma has managed to live upto it.
As we all know by now, business at multiplexes all over India was on the lower side (30-40%) right from Day 1 (Friday). Monday witnessed a further crash and the film has been rejected at the plexes. Collections down south are disastrous, business in two key centers in Karnataka – Bangalore and Mangalore – is way below expectations.
But what’s heartening is the fact that, the target audience of Veer, have taken to the film big time. Business at B and C centers in India is strong and the trending is pretty good.
Collections were strong on Friday, followed by a minor dip on Saturday, picked up again with Sunday recording the best collections for the weekend. Weekdays were always going to be crucial and the film has sustained well – Monday witnessed an expected dip in collections, but business on Republic day (Tuesday) was record breaking, similar to the boost that Wanted received on its first Monday.
Below are the day to day collections of Veer
- Friday – 7 crores
- Saturday – 6 crores
- Sunday – 7.5 to 8 crores
- Monday – 3 crores
- Tuesday – 6.5 crores
5 day total – approx 31 crores.
Week 1 is expected to be somewhere between 34 – 36 crores.
What remains to be seen in the next few days
- Can Veer sustain and match its Monday collections during the remaining two weekdays i.e today and tomorrow?
- Will the release of Rann and Ishqiya affect its collections? Unlikely to, since both releases this week are targeted mainly at the multiplex audience.

Box Office Returns hint Veer to be a Hit!
Salman Khan and Zarine Khan starrer Veer is on its paths to commercial success, despite negative reviews. Box office records suggest that
“VEER in its opening weekend, has had gross collections of Rs. 41 crores worldwide at the box office. VEER did a first weekend business of Rs. 32 crores (Rs. 19.50 crores net) in India with Rs. 9 crores coming in from overseas. Salman’s last hit WANTED netted Rs. 17.25 crores for the same period,” reports a source!
Nandu Ahuja, SVP, India Distribution, Eros International Media Ltd said, “Audience reactions to VEER have been extremely heartening. With Salman’s huge fan base in India and overseas, we were confident that VEER would be a huge draw. With the opening weekend followed by the Republic Day holiday teamed with Salman’s star power, we are looking forward to the film’s positive run at the box office”.
Salman has a cult following and that has definitely contributed to the film’s commercial success despite a lot of flaws in the film!

VEER showed a excellent start on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and not much drop on Monday. While Tuesday [26th January; Republic Day holiday] was excellent, Veer recorded huge collections on Tuesday which was Republic Day holiday. The film grossed around 7.25 crore nett as per early estimates which takes it five day business to nearly 31 crore nett. The collections on Tuesday are the second highest ever for a Tuesday after Three Idiots but is must be noted that Veer collected Excellent business already a Smash Hit.
VEER has found appreciation amongst the single screen section, that’s more than enough, which made a Smash Hit.
VEER already collected at least Rs. 21 cr. in its opening weekend [it collected approx. Rs. 20 cr. to Rs. 21 cr.] in India,The distributors go home with a share of approx. Rs. 20 cr. to Rs. 23 cr., in view of the fact that the share from single screens are much higher.
The film is now heading for a 33 crore nett plus total and a distributor share of over 22 crore plus. It had a exorbitant price tag [Rs. 45 Crores).

Veer Movie box office Report
“VEER” movie has gotten off to a bumper start at single screen theatres, its run at multiplexes has been strictly average.
As reported, the movie’s first weekend collection is around Rs 19.50 crore approx, which means a fairly good business. On Friday it did Rs 7 crore business; Saturday saw a weak response but it managed Rs 5.25 crore while Sunday was remarkably good with Rs 7.25 crore business. By the end of its first week, the movie is expected to make around Rs 31-32 crore, which is quite a decent amount given all the negative reviews it has got from critics.
The movie might continue its successful run in North India thanks to single screen business and Sallu’s fan following which is huge in the Hindi belt. The movie is already being described as the first success of 2010 and if it does good business in second week it can easily emerge as the first hit of the year with Rs 30 crore-plus share.

Mumbai: Notwithstanding with the poor reviews and negative comments, Salman Khan’s “Veer” is hitting high at the box offices in India and abroad. “Veer” tore into the critics like a gladiator and earned Rs 41 crore worldwide in the first week itself!
The weekend business of “Veer” stood at Rs 32 crore in India and rs 9 crore from the overseas market. This is the highest-ever earning for a Salman Khan movie during the first week in recent years.

The critics should take back their words…I have yet to come accross a bad comment out of the thousands i have read.I cannot believe that critics can be so rough & wrong of course . It is one of the best movies of all times and a must watch. Even the music is top. Not a single song is bad. How critics can say that only one song is good!!!I hope they are not watching it on a pirated CD!!! Salman is superb in his movie of life. And Mithun is no less than Salman. Baap-Beta jodi is the heart of the movie. Zarine is looking beautiful & impressive too. Ya I agree that Sohail is over most of the time but that does not stop the movie from being a classic & must watch

Despite poor review, Salman’s Veer steady at BO
Despite poor reviews, Salman Khan’s Veer has grossed Rs 41-crore worldwide at the box office in its opening weekend, distributor of the movie Eros International has said.
Veer took Rs 32-crore in its first weekend in India with Rs 9-crore overseas, a Eros spokesman said.
Directed by Anil Sharma, Veer, starring Salman Khan, Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff and debutant Zarine Khan released across cinemas worldwide on January 22. The film released 1,300 prints and in digital cinemas all over India and a further 236 prints overseas.
The film has emerged a high grosser in circuits such as Rajasthan, Delhi/UP, Bihar, Gujarat with single screens doing good business over the weekend.

I’ll post my review for this half movie which I saw after 30 minutes on the movie review, a review for a movie which was “exactly” as I expected, even Yuvraj was better than this crap! it just spoiled my mood and was a torture for me while watching it.

i saw veer just now, i think it was ok, the dialogues were good buth mithundada is the showstealer, what amazing actor this man is, amazing dialogue deliver, powerful expressions, no wonder why he got national award best actor 3 times, salman was good in parts, some places he could of done better but he was ok, he needs to work on his facial expressions a bit more
