Actress Priyanka Chopra, whose performance in ‘Barfi!’ was appreciated by the audience, is upset that the film did not get a single National award.
The winners of the 60th National Film Awards were announced here Monday.
“I am feeling bad that ‘Barfi!’ did not win National Award. But then it is up to the jury why they did not give the award,” Priyanka told reporters here at the launch of her first item song ‘Babli badmaash’.
‘Barfi!’ was a love story between a deaf and mute boy, played by Ranbir Kapoor, and an autistic girl, played by Priyanka.
Though the movie did not win a National Award, Priyanka is happy for her cousin Parineeti won a special mention for her performance in “Ishaqzaade”.
“I am happy for her. Now in the Chopra family, there are two National Awards. The whole day, I had to explain what special mention means,” said Priyanka.
Barfi was great film, but it was not an original movie.
It was adapted from several other movies, that’s why it didn’t get any National Award.
box office of barfi is fluke…..gud tht copied film not got awards…
Thank god Barfi did not win otherwise every director and writer in Bollywood would have been incited to do the same and plagiarise straight from hollywood films. Barfi last year and maybe next year a ‘Forrest Gump’ genre type film would have been copied scene to scene too.
this award is only for true actors not for stage performers (award show)
:(
A few copied scenes made this great film not to get that award..
Otherwise it was among deservings
Rani did not get the National award for Black or Hum Tum (Saif got it for Hum Tum)- that was huge disappointment for me. I do not trust any awards.
@ Navin,
I guess you missed out MNIK. The script of which was similar to Forrest Gump. Even the way srk speaks is similar to Hanks in Forrest Gump.
Also, don’t forget Saif got an award for acting in a copied film – Hum Tum, a poor copy of the original Harry met Sally.
