Only two films have managed what we could call an ‘excellent’ opening at the box office and only three have either matched or exceeded expectations. Unsurprisingly, one featured a top superstar like Shah Rukh Khan, the second was a Hollywood action-franchise film. The other was ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ which had dependable stars like Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.
The opening of ‘Jolly LLB 2’ falls in the acceptable / average range, because the film was expected to take a much better start than what it actually managed to collect on Day 1.
Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil was completely obliterated by Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, which is a concern for Hrithik because his films post Bang Bang haven’t even got a decent initial. The promos failed to generate interest, but a double digit total is the least that’s expected out of one of the top superstars – clash or not. Especially from a big-budget film like Mohenjo Daro, if not the smaller film Kaabil.
The next two films that’ll get a big initial are also no-brainers. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is expected to take the box office by storm, before the megastar himself arrives to make the rest look like mere mortals.
The film that could surprise in between, as far as the initial is concerned, is Half Girlfriend. The poster of Raabta too has got a good response, but the important trailer will be out on Monday.

@aisha,they had been saying this “MEGASTAR” word for sallu from long ago.Still I remained silent.but what does that “one line” meant for?Let their sallu to come on a calsh on republic day and give at least 20cr+ opening which he hardly did 17cr with out clash.still they’re forgetting their limit.if you can’t praise a star at least don’t degrade HIM.And before some months they blocked each of my even non hatred comment,what does that mean?Because they were too much upset about me what I did against their so called megastar.
