Tubelight was decent on its second day at the box office, but the film failed to show the 5-10% growth that it needed to suggest a positive trend. The movie has collected 42 crore in 2 days at the domestic box office, which is far less than what was expected out of a Salman Khan Eid release.
The next 2-3 days will be crucial for Tubelight, if it has to end with a decent total, although the distributors recovering their investment and the film attaining ‘hit’ status doesn’t look like a possibility given the level of collections the first two days.
Neither the reports nor the film is as bad as the reviews that the film got, but outright negative reviews and general negativity in the media, seems to have done irrecoverable damage to the box office prospects of Tubelight.
IndicineLBO: We are going with Rs 146 crore as the final lifetime collections of Tubelight. If the collections do indeed finish at this level, Tubelight would be a box office flop and the lowest Eid grosser since 2011’s Bodyguard.

Salman did an offbeat film likeTubelight due to the extraordinary success of Bajrangi Bhaijaan………he thought films on human emotions would work well……….the risk was Bajrangi Bhaijaan which paid off in a huge way and that is what prompted Salman to pick such a film……..
There are already reports that Salman’s next after Tiger would be Dabang 3 releasing on Eid 2018. His dance film with Remo Dsouza seems to be postponed.
Dont think Salman would take further risks now……….it’d be back to quintessential Salman films now!!!

Looks pretty accurate. Going by the trend on Sunday. Going by today’s trend 150 cr looks out of reach. But this won’t make any difference to Salman’s stardom. He’ll still end 2017 on a high note with TZH.
First half of the year has been disappointing barring Bahubali 2. Best wishes now for JHMS, TEPK, Baadshaho, Golmaal Again, Padmavati and TZH (in the order of release) to perform big at BO.

It’s good to see all your predictions. Look so accurate and realistic. JHMS hardly looks interesting. Somehow the comments and likes on @indicine are in the movie’s favour which I don’t understand how. The opening will be good coz of SRK but lifetime is doubtful. TEPK has the potential to surprise.
It’s a bold prediction for Golmaal Again as comedy films haven’t worked since a long time, but if Rohit Shetty delivers anything close to his previous best, then it could be the biggest Diwali cracker ever as no Diwali release has crossed 200 cr till now. I feel Secret Superstar is being underestimated here.

A film has to make double its budget at Box office to break even. Less than that means a failure.

Some frustrated Salman fans are targeting SRK fans for spreading negativity towards Tubelight. I just want to let you know some points-
1. There will be no impact on JHMS because spreading negativity towrads SRK movies by other fans is not new, from years they are doing the same thing again and again. For instance, recent released Raees. you can harm at this extent not more than that..
2. Celebrating for Tubelight’s failure is not only done by SRK fans but others fans like Aamir- Akshay- Hrithik too. But, salman fans only sees srk fans’s celebration. It really proof how jealous of SRK they are…
3. @Tiger, The stats you are showing is totally illogical & crap. How can you compare a movie released in lucrative festival with non-festival released movies with clash that too starring superstar. If you are doing those things by ignoring the facts to getting some satisfaction/ cool down your soul then okay.
4. There are three types of people-
a) One who is happy to see other’s failure than own’s success.
b) One who is happy to getting success but damn care about other’s success or failure.

PRDP, and second was HNY not sultan?. Bumper opening hahaha. Tubelight riding solo on Salman opened with 20cr, where Dangal stand at 29cr. In his best phase Aamir able to give three all time grossers in 4 years. Salman not able to defeat Aamir in his best phase, even unable to give bumper opening on normal Friday release yet. TZH also won’t get bumper opening. Salman should cross PRDP on opening day or challenge Highest Single day of Dangal 41cr on normal day than I really accept he is definitely ahead than the rest. Baki to apne comfort zone k bahar to tubelight nikalti h. Even jai ho collected merely 17cr on day 1 which was released on a normal holiday. Baap of bollywood, buhahaaaa.
@ Bicky : Nice comment. In fan fights when people celeberate failures of others, they forget that they are actually celeberating financial loss of others (producers, exhibitors, distributors, etc). It is a financial loss for industry which impacts bread and butter of many persons.
For fans, it is just an ego fight that mine star is more successful than yours. But when biggies like Tubelight, Dilwale, Mohenjodaro etc fall down, many exhibitors n distributors lose lots of money. That should be kept in mind too while celeberating such failures.
