Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year has topped the list of all time highest opening weekend collections in Bollywood, edging out the highest grosser of all time Dhoom 3. SRK now has two films that have crossed the 100 crore mark in 3 days, as Chennai Express including paid previews collected 100.42 crore.
We have included all films that have crossed 50 crore in their first 3 days at the box office. Salman Khan dominates the list, what with all his 5 films released after 2012 featuring in the Top 15. However, in the last couple of years, no film of his has swept the top records like Dabangg, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger.
Hrithik Roshan has been consistent, both Krrish 3 and Bang Bang opened well. Singham Returns could be the turning point in Ajay Devgn’s career as far as records are concerned, even Action Jackson is expected to take a big start. Akshay Kumar films haven’t taken a big enough open in recent times, Holiday relied on word-of-mouth to take it over the 100 crore mark. Gabbar, Singh Is Bling or Brothers could be his big openers.
Sidharth Malhotra’s Ek Villain opened very well, but just fell a few lakhs below 50 crore, Ranbir Kapoor’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was the biggest opener during the Post-IPL period. All eyes will now be on Aamir Khan’s PK.

see shahrukh just replied to them n its like a slap in their face.. the official figures n boi fig. differs only by a meagre 8 crore which was the case wid d3 too..
let me show.. boi published hny collect 97 crs in hindi n around 2 n something crores in tamil n telugu which accounts foh 100 crs approx n official figure r dere mentioned above… d3’s official figures are mentioned dere too n boi rated it as 95 crs foh the weekend.
I hope now haters wil stabilise… hny is trending normal the way big films do like d3 kick CE

First day: 30 to 34 crores.
Weekend: 85 to 100 crores.
First week: 140 to 150 crores.
Second week: 55 to 60 crores.
Lifetime: 270 to 320 crores. (Expecting it to run for more than 6 weeks.)
King dominates. Hny weekend overseas collection=49.7cr. Total worldwide gross 201cr in 3 days. Jai ho 170cr lifetime gross.lol

Salman has been the most unluckiest in terms of weekend release dates: ETT 1st 3 days- Holiday, working weekday, working weekday. KICK- Pre-EID normal weekend with no holidays . Dabangg 2, again normal weekend with no holidays, Jai Ho- working friday, republic day falling on a sunday so no advantage of an extra holiday. once Salman gets a holiday weekend like CE & HNY, he’ll surely be in top spot or top 3. anyways in top 3 highest grossing domestic films, Salman has two movies.
