Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha has held fairly well at the domestic box office on its first weekday. The holiday period came to an end on Tuesday, ticket prices at multiplexes dropped to normal weekday rates and the film has managed to collect Rs 6.5 crore.
The hold on Wednesday suggests the film would have collected around 8 crore on Monday and 7.25 crore on Tuesday if both those days were normal working days. This puts the holiday advantage for the film at around 16-17 crore, which the film would’ve lost if it released during a normal week.
Toilet Ek Prem Katha is heading towards first week business of around 95 crore, which will make it the highest first week collection for an Akshay Kumar film – beating ‘Rustom’ during the same period last year.
The growth over the second weekend will decide if the film can go on to become Akshay’s highest grosser (currently Rowdy Rathore) and also beat Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees to emerge as the biggest grosser of the year so far.

It obviously will beat Raees which also got holiday advantage but due to poor n weak stardom of Shahrukh and a terrible screenplay crashed in second week…Toilet will collect close to 150 cr for sure…week 2 will collect close to 30cr..taking 2weeks collections to 125 cr…week 3 would be 12 cr followed by a 5 cr week 4 n there it will cross Raees

You cant say it would have grossed 8 and 7.5cr on Monday.. you need to consider that a lot of people have already watched the movie which clearly explains the drop on normal working wednesday and ofcourse with lower ticket prices. If Monday and Tuesday were working days, these people would have spread across the whole week and maybe weekend as well… wednesday numbers would have gone higher too.. probably would have added atleast 3crs to wednesday…. you cant simply predict monday/tuesday based on wednesday figures.
Also, you can’t take away anything from the film citing Holiday… none of Khan movies have reached 70% of what they achieved without EDX… holidays will always be there, and trying to bring down Akki is pretty evident in your comment about Monday/Tuesday figure and holiday effect.. you never do this for the Khans during EDX. You might not publish my comment, but try to give some credit to Akki…. he finally broke the dry spell for bollywood and has been impeccable in recent times as far as picking up the right scripts. His acting in TEPK was top notch and will give any Khan a run for their money.
When akkis small budgeted movies scores huge u feel its bcoz of holidays n when khans movies grosses big numbers its bcoz of their stardom..dumbest logic.akki has always been underrated by media..

I don’t understand what are you guys gaining by trying to underplay the success of TEPK by making a hypothesis of what the actual (real value) collections would’ve been had it not been for the holidays. If this is the case with all your articles, then why didn’t we got any such thesis during the release of Raees,Tubelight etc. Why didn’t you had any such hypothetical collections back then? Period!
140 is realistic target. 150 is stretch considering 95-96 will be week 1. Week 2 can add close to 30, week 3 can add close to 10 and rest weeks can add close to 3-5 crores. This is a big success considering the budget, songs, new actress etc. Only riding on Akkis star power this will do 140…One has to also understand most Akkis films don’t have ANushka, Deepika etc. as lead actress nor do they spend 100s of crores and more than a year shooting the movie…Akki believes in churning one big hit every 3-4 months….

About 300 crore worldwide. It’s by far highest grossing hindi movie this year. Toilet has no chance breaking it.
I am a huge fan of Akshay Kumar but still i am waiting for TEPK 2nd weekend and 2nd week performance to predict what amount it will collect in its lifetime i wish it will collect somewhere between 150 crore to 160 crore
