The Shaukeens was below-par on its opening day, as the film collected Rs 5.12 crore at the box office. The film opened to a decent response in the morning, but failed to pick up towards the end of the day.
Even though Akshay Kumar was the biggest star attraction, the audience were probably well aware of the fact that ‘The Shaukeens’ wasn’t his film.
After a slow start, The Shaukeens will now rely on word-of-mouth publicity to carry it through. The morning shows on Saturday was around the same level as Friday, at some centres slightly lower, but the film should pick up in the evening / night.
While ‘The Shaukeens’ was competing with ‘Happy New Year’ it did get a decent release size of around 1900 screens across the country.

agreed that fanny collected that but it was solely due to high cost of ticket at urban plexes n deepika carried the film pre release n post release also due to controversy publicity.
@Babaji, yes! The ripped off ‘Gotya’ is nowhere to Bulli. While Bulli has never used a bad word and is always sarcastic, this Gotya uses harsh & offensive terms.
