The Dirty Picture Story

Based on the true story on the life of South Indian Sensation Silk Smitha, The Dirty Picture is directed by Milan Luthria (Once Upon A Time In Mumbai) and stars Vidya Balan, Tusshar Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Emraan Hashmi.

Silk, was a make-up artist who became an extra (background dancer) and then the most wanted heroine of the early 1980s. Chronicling the meteoric rise and steep fall of the erstwhile screen sensation, The Dirty Picture is set against the colorful and entertaining backdrop of the South Indian film industry, which was dominated by the male superstars in the 80s.

The quintessential siren, Silk, knew her audiences and it didn’t seem like anything would stop the ambitious superstar, till it did, in the form of unrequited love.

To the world and her fans, Silk was the queen of sensuality. But at heart, she was just like any other woman yearning for love in a ruthless world.

Scheduled for release on December 2nd 2011, which also happens to be the birth date of the South Indian star, The Dirty Picture promises to be a humorous yet poignant entertainer.
