Update: The gap between Dil Dhadakne Do and Tamasha has widened on Day 5. The total collections in 5 days – Dil Dhadakne Do 47.91 crore and Tamasha 47.37 crore.
Tamasha vs Dil Dhadakne Do makes for a very interesting box office comparison because both films were produced at approximately the same costs, Tamasha was the bigger film in terms of star cast and the target audience was the same.
The weekend collections of both films were similar too – Tamasha collected Rs 38.23 crore and Dil Dhadakne Do collections was a little lower at Rs 37.05 crore. But the difference could well turn out to be the drop on Monday. While Dil Dhadakne Do collected Rs 5.77 crore on its 4th day at the box office, Tamasha has collected Rs 5.07 crore.
The trend suggests that Tamasha is set to finish below the lifetime collections of Dil Dhadakne Do, unless it manages to turn things around in its second weekend.
It’s also worth noting that the Zoya Akhtar film competed against Emraan Hashmi’s Hamari Adhuri Kahani in its second week and Varun Dhawan’s ABCD 2 in Week 3. Tamasha has no major competition, except ‘Hate Story 3’ which is targeted at the masses.

The irony here is they celebrated for the success of the movie , its hilarious that they can do that. Were they expecting it to be a washout like BV and were pleasantly surprised with the weekend numbers or its a tradition that flop or hit show the world that the movie worked.
The fan base for RK is now limited to the Multiplex crowd and with each movie he is loosing out. If he doesn’t get a good script soon he may fade for a few years.
To rub it in for RK fans indicine is comparing it to DDD LOL. Hate story will get a good response and with that on Friday Tamasha is over and out.

@Indicine,I just wish to ask,on what basis is DDD bigger than Tamasha?This is a genuine doubt and I don’t wish to insult any star,but the fact is that DDD had an ensemble starcast,reputed director and big Banner behind it.And I see Tamasha having a similar scenario.So on what basis are you judging that DDD is not as big as Tamasha?Please reply if possible.

Tamasha’s production cost 80cr+print&adv 20cr=110cr total,so it needs min 90cr to b called as avg but it seems it will finish below 70cr hence it’s another flop for Ranbir…I told earlier that without srk fans Deepika is nothing,Tamasha has proved that,nd now we r awaiting for biggest disaster of all time “Bajirao Mastani”
I just finished watching this movie and I have to say: It was BRILLIANT!!!
I would give it a 4/5.
I personally like Ranbir Kapoor as an actor and his performance was awesome here as well!!!
To all those spreading negativity due to it being a rom-com, I would like to tell you it is only partially a romantic movie and is truly a breaking-the -barrier-living-life-to-the-fullest-motivating movie!!!
Ranbir’s character goes through the same problems that we all go through but unlike us, he has time to realise it before it is too late….
The tagline of the movie,why always the same story?, is done justice in this movie and I think every middle class engineer-type nokri man should see it..
The only negative I found was that though songs were good, they weren’t upto the mark..
And for all those who don’t know, DP has a smaller role as this is not a rom-com but a dfferent kind of coming-of-age…
I wish that everyone would see it once, many awesome movies have failed this year and I hope that this is not added to that list…

BM(though am with Rohits Dilwale) only Ranveer will try hard and move with its pace since this movie that Were offered to 2 Alist actors at 1st before they declined due to busy schedules.
