Sultan has started very strongly on Sunday, with multiplexes at several centres taking the best start of the week. The advance booking, like we mentioned in one of our reports late last night (read), is extraordinary for the film.
Mumbai circuit, after a comparatively slower start in the first 2-3 days, is now coming into its own. The occupancy for the morning shows was phenomenal in major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad.. just to name a few. Rest of India, the story is the same. Sultan is performing at a very high level throughout the country.
It’s a foregone conclusion that Sultan will be the first film to record 30 crore on each of its first 5 days at the box office, but looking at the morning occupancy the film could touch or cross the 40 crore mark on Sunday.
With each passing day, it has also become clear that the word-of-mouth of Sultan is excellent. It’s a combination of star power, along with the film finding appreciation across the country, that’s helping Sultan record such unbelievably high numbers.
How big was Sultan’s Rs 37.1 crore total on the 4th day after its release? Check this out:
- In 2016, it was the 2nd highest single day (after 2nd day of Sultan), 70% higher than the Sunday collections of Housefull 3 (21.8 cr) and nearly twice as big as the first day of FAN (19.2 cr).
- When it comes to all time highest days, Sultan’s Saturday was better than the second day holiday collections of Bajrangi Bhaijaan (36.6 cr), bigger than the opening day of Dhoom 3 (36.22 cr) and better than the first day collections of big films like PK, Chennai Express etc.
- The 4th day collections of Sultan alone would make the film the 10th highest grosser of the year so far.
Sultan is history in the making, as the opening weekend is concerned. The film is re-writing the rules of the trade and there are chances that things could get better from here.

Salman Khan is just lucky. He gets all the holiday and big releases he is bound to break all these records. Imagine a Bajirao Mastani having this kind of release. Even SRK’s fan would have earned 160-170 cr with this kind of a release.

Honestly I don’t have anything against salman khan. He is a good entertainer and his movies are good for time pass. But the only thing I hate is when people overhyped him with things like God of bollywood and Biggest megastar and bla bla bla. That’s just silly and dumb. You are insulting other legends and superstars on what basis? And not as a fan only but even as a neutral viewer I will always rate Aamir as biggest megastar ever. He is the only one who has given 4 ATHG which is highest ever in the history of Indian cinema. Salman is only chasing the records of Aamir for years. No directors or dhoom excuse will be accepted. Because you are jealous of Aamir’s unprecedented supremacy doesn’t mean you can go to any extent. The fact is that those movies are ATBB only because of Aamir. So Salman is one of the biggest stars. He is not the biggest megastar. For that you need to learn acting and you have to be a class. Salaman is only about entertainment so he is not the biggest star. Period.
