Sultan has collected Rs 36.54 crore on its opening day at the box office, as per official figures released by Yash Raj Films. The film was extraordinary at multiplexes, with multiplex chains recording the single highest day collections of all time, but it looks like the ‘Pre Eid’ factor has affected single-screen business, especially at muslim-dominated areas.
Sultan has recorded the 3rd highest opening day collections of all time, behind Happy New Year and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The first day collections are at around the same level as Dhoom 3, which released on a non-holiday.

Indicine – 41/42 crores
Komal Nahta – 43 Crores
Joginder Tuteja/Koimoi – 41.5 Crores
And then you say it has collected only 36.54 crores??What’s the reason guys??Your estimates are almost bull’s eye!!

@Devesh Pandey, you’ve got to understand that Sultan released on huge number of screens. Level of single-screen business can only be assumed, can’t be tracked in the night. Multiplexes were at record levels, a lot of them better than PRDP.

36cr for pre – eid is excellent. keep in my mind, Bajrangi bhaijaan earned 27 cr (pre eid last year) and went on to earn 320 cr
*Not bad for a partial holiday + pre Eid period. Dhoom 3’s 36 crore on normal working day was historic in 2013.
40+ crore opening would have have been simply earth shattering, if not yesterday, Sultan should cross 40 crore today on Eid holiday if trends are not negative.

I was waiting for the movie since it was announced….the title SULTAN and presence of bhai made me excited…but to be honest I am a bit disappointed after watching the movie…. Will wait for your next one bhai…

The collections are really good but something less than expected . I was expecting Sultan to do 38+ on the first day . The kind of advance booking and the updates by Indicine and Bollyarena influenced the fans and everybody started expecting 40+ . Today is a holiday so today’s collections will be above 40 CR . The first 5 days will play a huge role as Sultan can do the maximum business in this period . Weekdays will determine where Sultan will finish . More than the opening lifetime collections hold importance as PRDP and HNY had 40 CR+ opening and finished under 220 CR . PK and BB had 25 CR+ opening and finished 300 CR+ . It is tough to understand whether Sultan is good or average . I have read many contrasting reviews both appreciating as well as criticising the movie . On Indicine the Average rating is 3.6 which is really good but ultimately audience will decide how far Sultan will go . Eid Mubarak to everyone and Indicine . I am back along SULTAN after a month long break !!!!!! This is huge considering non holiday / partial holiday factor. And those who are still singing about HNY opening should first learn the difference between a Holiday & non holiday release and a Masala movie & Family drama. Haters gonna hate !!!!!!!!!!

I doubt Sultan to sustain very well after the weekend.. unfortunately it has no repeat value. I have watched it last night in Qatar …as said earlier the film drags on…..The length kills it…..specially if there is no power packed story. And believe me…I am a diehard fan of Salman.
I wish rhe film was at minimum 20 minutes shorter. Salman please consider next time to trim the length of your films if there is no good story to pack up.
