It’s a case of our ‘early estimates’ taking the sheen away from the real achievement of Sultan on Day 1. The film was phenomenal on its opening day at the box office, even though it was ‘Pre-Eid’ and Wednesday wasn’t a full-fledged national holiday either.
FAN vs Sultan isn’t a fair comparison, because a more commercial Shah Rukh Khan film would’ve been closer. After all, Dilwale even with a clash, managed to collect 21 crore on its opening day.
However, Sultan has nearly doubled the collections of FAN and more than doubled the collections of a franchise film like ‘Housefull 3’. In short, there is no comparison – Sultan is way ahead of every other film this year and has collected more than the lifetime collections of several medium budget films on its first day itself.
Sultan is also the sole ‘bumper’ opener of 2016. Only ‘Baaghi’ and a few other Hollywood film have managed ‘excellent’ opening, the rest were good or under.

Movie is good but not Bajarangi Bhaijan (BB). Even in BB performance of Salman has extra ordinary with super emotion witness tears in eyes almost in every one. Movie will collect in range of 270 to 280 for sure but impossible for BB and PK record.

Important thing is movie should be loved by audience and SULTAN manage to do that….36.5cr on partial holiday that too on Pre EID Day is pretty much good collection….and with the positive response from audience it will go BB and PK way….That’s Important….

Bad news for all salman khan fans
Salman Khan’s Sultan released a day prior to Eid and faced a small setback of sorts. The advance booking was crazy and the film had generated an unprecedented hype before the release. Eventually, a shift in Eid caused all the more trouble for Sultan.
The film which would have easily surpassed the Rs 40 crore mark otherwise fell short of becoming the highest Bollywood opener by a few crores. Yes, the film eventually raked in Rs 36.54 crore at the box office on day 1 which is excellent but a little lower than what everyone expected.
The Muslim community could not watch the film since Eid got shifted to Thursday and now, we hear that the film has faced another 20% drop in collections on day 2. While Thursday was again expected to be bigger, given that it was Eid, the morning shows remained considerably low. The evening shows picked up but it now needs to be seen if it can help Sultan put up a better figure on day two – DNA
