Business of Sultan has seen a bigger drop as compared to its 2nd Friday, but the film is still the first choice for the Hindi audience.
The new release of the week – Irrfan Khan’s Madaari – was promoted quite aggressively and the campaign was innovative too. But the result is quite poor, as the film has collected less than 2 crore on Day 1.
Can Sultan cross the 300 crore mark is a question that keeps getting asked, but there is still some uncertainty. The film has collected 280 crore in 2 weeks and 3 days, but has to still grow by 50% on Saturday and Sunday to have a chance of crossing the 300 crore mark.
It won’t be able to collect much after the release of ‘Dishoom’ on 29 July.

And wat is the point comparing salman with rajni salman is way bigger whereas in south there is so much poverty and average looking people mostly jobless have no other entertainment options in hindi belt people are more involved in other sort of entertaining stuff and indicine you said few states of south doing massive buisness these few states have half of countries population andhra pardesh itself has a population of 24 crore and almost same karnatka tamilnadu combined and they are all movie buffs like hindi belts used to be in 70-80s if you look closely maharashtra region having not even half of population of andhra still do 100plus crores for event hindi films so that too with 50percent tax where as in south no tax at all for regional movies basicallyy salman is atleast 5times bigger star then rajni and there is no piracy for rajni movie and for sultan salman very next day of release people watching on leptops dvds with bulks of friends families including me imagine all these people going to cinema which is not happening for event hindi films coz of piracy so dont compare with sultan or salman salman is way bigger to any contemprary
