The advance booking of Sultan has opened across the country on Sunday and the response is TERRIFIC. Some shows have been sold out in a matter of minutes.
From the initial reports that are coming in from various exhibitors, the tickets sold in advance in a few hours is more than all films this year. And we are comparing the entire duration (until Thursday night for films that release on Friday) to a few hours of Sultan.
By the time the film releases on Wednesday, Sultan would probably sell 2 to 3 times more tickets in advance, as compared to all other film releases this year. Some are already calling it the ‘best ever advance booking’.
Sultan will also be playing on a record number of shows at multiplexes, with some multiplexes ‘only’ playing Sultan – Wednesday onwards. At most 3-screen multiplexes, all older films like Housefull 3, Udta Punjab, Raman Raghav 2.0 will stop playing after Tuesday, to make way for Sultan. At multiplexes with higher capacity, Sultan will be playing on a record number of shows.

The response, in just a matter of a few hours, is unprecedented. We don’t usually do advance booking reports so early, but never before has our inbox been literally bombarded with messages expressing euphoria over the response to the advance booking of a film.
There hasn’t been a film that has really set the box office on fire at smaller centres this year. At quite a few of these centres, Sultan could be setting lifetime 2016 records on its first day itself – i.e more people watching the film on Day 1 as compared to lifetime of other films.
