With the Diwali festivities coming to an end, the audience were back in theatres to watch the two major releases – Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay and Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
It was a good day at the box office on Monday. In the morning it was ADHM that started well, with Shivaay taking the lead late-morning / noon onwards. The two films weren’t really competing against each other as ADHM was by far the first choice at major cities, while Shivaay was recording very high occupancy at smaller centres.
The bigger the centre, the better the occupancy for ADHM, which is a big advantage to have because the average ticket price for ADHM was much higher than Shivaay. The Ranbir-Anushka starrer did not even have to perform pan-India to beat Shivaay for the fourth consecutive day.
Shivaay had volume, the footfalls (number of tickets sold) was way higher for the film, but the collections have come in lower (unconfirmed) because of lower ticket prices.
The total collections of ADHM and Shivaay on Monday was around 15% lower than the opening day collections of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo last year.
The difference between Shivaay and ADHM at the end of 4 days is Rs 7.44 crore.

@Azhar, Don and Don 2 got positive reviews from critics…critics also praised the action in Baaghi, Bang Bang and Commando….Kaante was the first stylish action movie of bollywood and it also got positive reviews from critics….but people don’t watch movies only because of action…it should have a good and worth watching storyline, script and direction….it’s like eating food without any spices.

Watched ADHM. Worst movie of my life!!! Nothing new to offer with same Rom com dramas. When Anushka and Ranbir cut off their hair was highly terrible and the climax was extremely boring. 1.5 stars.

I watched shivaay yesterday with my family. it is really heart touching story with lots of emotions. vfx cinematography action never seen before in Bollywood. Ajay & Abigail steal the show. Every father who has cute daughter must watch. I watch Adhm today morning alone. if u want ur children go to bad way. plz don’t watch. bcoz in Adhm many bad scene which u don’t share with ur family. u really ashamed of it. so pick up the pure massagable movie shivaay. I request u otherwise choice is urs.
@AB – If single screen collection can’t be calculated correctly then why Bajrangi bhaijan & Sultan’s collection were exactly same as trade figures, since they were were huge grossers at single screen.
@Arjun Fan- wait for the verdict man. ADHM total budget is 92 cr. it needs 110cr to be hit.
Golden days for both the movies are now over.
I think there will be huge fall in collections from tomorrow onwards.

Shivaay is watched by more number of people than ADHM . For me , both movies should recover their costs at domestic box office and earn decent profits to all producers, distributers & exhibitors. That way Industry will grow and more investments will come and films can be set on huge scales .

Every hero is important. Every director is important . Salman , shahrukh and Aamir makes 1 film a year . Akki makes 3 .. In an year of 54 weeks , atleast 2 big films should come every year so that no competition stands from outside. New stars should come , new directors should come . Industry must grow .

Ajay devgan and abigail is simply outstanding. Actually u feel for ajay. Climax scene will melt even the heart of stone. Action scenes and locales are beautifully picturised. Movie looks grand in every frame. After a long time something grand like robot or bahubali we r witnessing but catch here is not the graphics but hardcore combats and beautiful natural scene sceneries. Outstanding portrayal of human emotions with global appeal. Hats off to Ajay and thumbs down to mediocre crap boring and routine rom com adhm. It took time but destruction has begun ofcourse yeh deewali shivaay wali. N lets give some respect to legend like ajay who is no less to nasserudhin shah in acting n stop acting like 2 rs people like KRK who is bashing our people sitting at dubai.

Regarding manupulation i cant say anything even adhm is showing collection more than trade. While being multiplex fair adhm collection is easy to track hence difference being trade and producer figure is less while that for shivaay seems inflated by 5-6 crores. Also we must recognize that single screens are hard to track. Well 5% up n down should be considered ok in a life time figure. Aorry guys that we have to pay as a price for not having statuory body to regulate all this. Yes if it is overtly manupulated like happy new year opening day figure and kriss 3 life time figure than its of serious concern. Hope we get it right. Thx.
