With the Diwali festivities coming to an end, the audience were back in theatres to watch the two major releases – Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay and Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
It was a good day at the box office on Monday. In the morning it was ADHM that started well, with Shivaay taking the lead late-morning / noon onwards. The two films weren’t really competing against each other as ADHM was by far the first choice at major cities, while Shivaay was recording very high occupancy at smaller centres.
The bigger the centre, the better the occupancy for ADHM, which is a big advantage to have because the average ticket price for ADHM was much higher than Shivaay. The Ranbir-Anushka starrer did not even have to perform pan-India to beat Shivaay for the fourth consecutive day.
Shivaay had volume, the footfalls (number of tickets sold) was way higher for the film, but the collections have come in lower (unconfirmed) because of lower ticket prices.
The total collections of ADHM and Shivaay on Monday was around 15% lower than the opening day collections of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo last year.
The difference between Shivaay and ADHM at the end of 4 days is Rs 7.44 crore.

ADHM is far superior than Shivaay if people with little brains can’t understand the beauty of the movie it’s their loss.
Collections are decent considering the star cast and apeal of the film.
ADHM – 17.75Crs by trade as well as by producers…
Shivaay- actual or by trade in between 15 to 16Crs….but official is surely gonna be 17Crs+
Today also some people will cry over over trade and producer fig. Single screen collection can’t be estimate exactly simple as that…. Poor haters .
So Shivaay is back on track !

Even on this day Shivay has lost, lol. Clearly shows that single screens do not hold a candle to multiplexes.
adhm will be blockbuster due to poweful overseas
so after 2 stressful months full pf -ty for adhm ( krk controversy, patriotism pe sawaal etc etc ) adhm has not only emerged a major hit worldwide but also a clear winner in this clash against another film whose name I don’t even want to take after the level of cheapness it’s writer cum director cum producer cum hero got into.
Anyways thank u Indians for loving adhm so much & yes Ranbir Kapoor is now a superstar
Shivaay must have done more than 17 as it takes more time to calculate all collection from Single Screen than from multiplex.
I think both film Shivaay and ADHM should have released yesterday as the collection of both the film would have been unexpected and huge.
I dont understand. Everyone expected Shivaay to collect more on opening day. Then they said from Monday. Now they’ll say collections don’t matter. How hard is it to accept defeat and move on? Its just a movie. When you are making such a high budget movie you can’t ignore the multiplex audience.

ADHM has done good business in the first 3 days and the Overseas business has been outstanding . Shivaay should have done better in the first 3 days but if it can maintain consistent pace in the next 4 days the gap between both the movies will be reduced . I have seen both the movies . ADHM is mediocre with good performances by Ranbir and Aishwarya+good music . Shivaay is a good film not something brilliant . Solid performances by Ajay and Abigail Eames+Action sequences and Cinematography . The length should have been reduced by 20 minutes . A one time watch for sure . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
