From a commoner in Delhi to one of the biggest superstars in the country, Shahrukh Khan is one of the biggest success stories in the industry today. Born in New Delhi on 2nd November 1965 and brought up in the coastal city of Mangalore for the first five years of his life, Shahrukh made his debut in the Hindi Film Industry about 2 decade ago with Deewana (1992), a film that won him his first Filmfare Award for Best Debut Male.
Later in the same year, Shahrukh featured in Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, a film that remains close to his heart even today. The turning point in his career, however, came with two films in 1993 where he played characters with grey shades – Yash Chopra’s Darr and Abbas-Mustan’s Baazigar.

Shahrukh Khan – DDLJ to Chennai Express
1995 though was a landmark year in his career. Two of the year’s biggest blockbusters, Rakesh Roshan’s Karan Arjun and Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge released and the latter went on to become one of the biggest blockbuster in the history of Indian cinema and firmly established Shahrukh as the biggest superstar in the country. DDLJ is still running at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai!
In the following few years, SRK gained iconic status with romantic films like Yash Chopra’s Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Subhash Ghai’s Pardes and Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which remains one of the biggest hits of his career.

The beginning of the current century was probably the toughest of Shahrukh’s career with the media pitting him against Hrithik Roshan who made a spectacular debut in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. The two had a epic clash at the box office during Diwali in 2010 when Hrithik’s Mission Kashmir released on the same day as SRK’s Mohabbatein. While Mission Kashmir opened to a better response initially, it was Mohabbatein that eventually won the Diwali clash.

In the last decade or so, Shahrukh consolidated his status as one of the most bankable stars in the country with successful films like Devdas, Chalte Chalte, Kal Ho Na Ho, Main Hoon Na and Veer Zaara. The actor was unable to maintain his success streak when Swades and Paheli failed at the box office. Two rare failures were followed by 10 back-to-back successful films that started with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and continues with his latest blockbusters Chennai Express and Happy New Year.

A few interesting points
- Shahrukh is second only to Rajesh Khanna when it comes to back-to-back hits. He currently has 10 and could eventually beat Khanna’s 15 consecutive hits record.
- At the time of this writing, SRK also has almost all the box office records under his name – Highest grosser in India, Highest worldwide grosser, Highest Opening Day / Weekend / Week – just to name a few.
- In every overseas market, Shahrukh is by far the biggest superstar. Some of his older films like Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna are still in the Top 10.
- Not a single Shahrukh Khan film has ever been declared as a box office disaster!
- The total business generated by his films in India is Rs 1642.52 crore, only behind Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

first of all, indicine get the facts right. srk with 0 disaster? really? are you in fantacy orld or what? he had at least 5 disasters in his career. and 3 ATBB? can you name even one ABBB? even if he got one ATBB chennaie express, it couldn’t survive for 4 months.
Many errors. Even in the list, there are no 10 consecutive hits shown. Billu was a flop & so was Ra One.
No one can ever beat Rajesh Khanna’s record of 15 consecutive blockbusters.
” Yeh Lamhe Judaai ke ” was a Big Disaster . Go n ckeck BOI ahahaha
I truly believe my job is to make surepeople smile.Shahrukh Khan
SRK is good, but present time he isnt
1. Aamir Khan
2. Salman Khan
3. SRk
4. Akshay
5. Hritik
6. Ranbir Kapoor
They are all good, but honestly Aamir is the best
Happy New Year collection update karna mat boolna by the end of it’s run…TX
SRK is the most consistent star of last 20+ year. Hope he does more Chak de india/Swades kind of movies than HNY/CE..Love and respect from an Aamir and Hrithik fan!

Aamir Khan Is Real King Of India & Overseas..Srk My Foot.
i feel very bad when movies like paheli or spcly swades considered as flop
i mean if u r really luking for a gud piece of acting then swadesh and paheli wud seems u to be a flop one
Long live Shah Rukh Khan u are living lagend ! lotsssss of love from Pakistan
Aamir is big star huhuhu who was unable to cross SRK,s DDLJ in 13 years hahaha
That’s because he doesn’t have the habit of making SHIT like DDLJ. He has the habit of making movies like
Mangal Pandey
Lagaan
Rang de Basanti
Taare Zameen Par
3 idiots
Dangal
PK
All the above movies are realistic and Aamir doesn’t have to sing romantic duets or dance in the rain with heroines
Comedy classics like andaz apna apna
Dangal is enough to blow away all SRK movies including the “great” DDLJ
sorry @indicine.com but reporting of your some of the Film’s of SRK’s career is totally wrong. Boxofficeindia.com verdict for this films is different the Film’s are 1) Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman-SRK’s 1st solo success semi hit verdict by BOI 2)Ram Jane-also have a semi hit verdict by BOI 3) yes boss-verdict given by BOI is hit, a commercial success 4) Baadshah-it was in top 5 grossing film of that year, commercial success, semi hit verdict by BOI 5) Josh-it is also a commercial success, semi hit verdict film. 6) Paheli-it was profitable venture for exhibitors & total business n BOI verdict is above average not a flop. please check your verdict for this films & update it BOI site tracking the business since 1994 you were not present that time so appreciate BOI verdict for this films. also there are disasters in Srk’s career too they are few but they are. films that have disaster verdict are i guess 5-7 films like yeh lamhe judai ke, trimurti, chamatkar, dil ashana hai & some others. please update it. don’t provide false info.
his majority movies is average business like Emraan hasmi.which films are hit ,those are multi starred like KKHT,kal ho na ho,dil to pagal hai,KKKG etc ,are u want know something?

King khan is real king i like his acting. He should not compare with other guys as he is skillfull as well as more talented. Thanks SRK………
Srk is the cinematic emperor. He is a god gifted actor. One in this Bollywood industry does not have that eligibility to challenge Mr.King Khan’s acting.
That’s the reason he hasn’t won even one national award. There are many in Bollywood who can challenge him and defeat him in terms of acting
