From a commoner in Delhi to one of the biggest superstars in the country, Shahrukh Khan is one of the biggest success stories in the industry today. Born in New Delhi on 2nd November 1965 and brought up in the coastal city of Mangalore for the first five years of his life, Shahrukh made his debut in the Hindi Film Industry about 2 decade ago with Deewana (1992), a film that won him his first Filmfare Award for Best Debut Male.
Later in the same year, Shahrukh featured in Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, a film that remains close to his heart even today. The turning point in his career, however, came with two films in 1993 where he played characters with grey shades – Yash Chopra’s Darr and Abbas-Mustan’s Baazigar.

Shahrukh Khan – DDLJ to Chennai Express
1995 though was a landmark year in his career. Two of the year’s biggest blockbusters, Rakesh Roshan’s Karan Arjun and Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge released and the latter went on to become one of the biggest blockbuster in the history of Indian cinema and firmly established Shahrukh as the biggest superstar in the country. DDLJ is still running at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai!
In the following few years, SRK gained iconic status with romantic films like Yash Chopra’s Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Subhash Ghai’s Pardes and Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which remains one of the biggest hits of his career.

The beginning of the current century was probably the toughest of Shahrukh’s career with the media pitting him against Hrithik Roshan who made a spectacular debut in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. The two had a epic clash at the box office during Diwali in 2010 when Hrithik’s Mission Kashmir released on the same day as SRK’s Mohabbatein. While Mission Kashmir opened to a better response initially, it was Mohabbatein that eventually won the Diwali clash.

In the last decade or so, Shahrukh consolidated his status as one of the most bankable stars in the country with successful films like Devdas, Chalte Chalte, Kal Ho Na Ho, Main Hoon Na and Veer Zaara. The actor was unable to maintain his success streak when Swades and Paheli failed at the box office. Two rare failures were followed by 10 back-to-back successful films that started with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and continues with his latest blockbusters Chennai Express and Happy New Year.

A few interesting points
- Shahrukh is second only to Rajesh Khanna when it comes to back-to-back hits. He currently has 10 and could eventually beat Khanna’s 15 consecutive hits record.
- At the time of this writing, SRK also has almost all the box office records under his name – Highest grosser in India, Highest worldwide grosser, Highest Opening Day / Weekend / Week – just to name a few.
- In every overseas market, Shahrukh is by far the biggest superstar. Some of his older films like Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna are still in the Top 10.
- Not a single Shahrukh Khan film has ever been declared as a box office disaster!
- The total business generated by his films in India is Rs 1642.52 crore, only behind Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar.

SHUT UP
Aamir ajay are fantastic actors, akshay has great comic timing, salman overacts in every scene possible but still does in very loveable way… srk is mixture of all of the above, fantastic actor with great comic timing and sometimes overacts too but which makes him even more loveable
In terms of fan following here in india noone can beat srk and salman…and one thing about amir khan..he may be a good actor..for some he is greatest actors born in bollywood but the truth is his fan following is almost negligible in comparison to the above stars…the movies of salman and srk can run on the starpower of them alone but similar is not possible for amir..if he acts in dabang ready bodygaurd or even in chennai express….these movies would have not collected the huge amount they eventually collected…akshay and hririk are much bigger stars in comparison
In some comments over here and other forums I found srk haters commenting srk as srgay…I feel pathetic gor them…a married man with two children is called as gay and a non married at an age of nearly 50…every girlfreind of whose has dump him…is what then..isn’t it a great irony…I think jinke khud k ghar sheeshey k ho vo dusro k ghar par patthar nahi ucchalte
@remotecontrol : Even you had expected CE to be such huge. Not a big deal with manipulated screens, solo Eid release, 4 holidays, 40% rise in ticket prices and last but not least with a hug from Salman. That hug broke the jinx (panvaati) for your king. Wait till next Eid. All CE and srk records will be history. Shut the hell up you faulty remote control.

@remote control : Dont burn youself after reading facts about king and the the filth you and your mates spread. Chillax !!!!!!!
It is a very good article . It shows how dominant SRK is in all genre. However, it hurts to see Swades in the flop list.
413 DAYS TO GO
srk next relse HAPPY NEW YEAR
WAITING
@Noam : If 3 Idiots is an adult movie then what will be JTHJ (kissing and bed scenes) and Ra.one (discussing about condoms in front of a kid)? Yeah, you people will call it as class because srk did it. Wait !!! there is an All time classic and epic called as ‘Maya Memsaab’.
@beingsrklallufan : Your day is incomplete without bringing Salman’s name. You are the most hypocrite and inferior srk fan who does not even have an own id to abuse other actors. srk takes Salman stardom and name to book screens and you take his fan id to abuse him. Like actor and like fan. Double standard !!!!!!
For all Haters Just one sentence:
“Agar log tumhare baare me bura bolne lage to samajhlo ki tarraki kar rhe ho”
May u have many more Sir KING SRK Record KHAN
There are criminals also who are talked about more than good people. Does this dialogue even apply to them? Will you say they are making a good name for themselves. Haha
@djbolly: friend u didnt got my point of mentioning maya memsaab… Mr. Noam wrote one point dat 3i have a smooch scenes of actors, so to reply that point i said dat srk who alwys said he wnt do onscreen kissing did in JTHJ and for d scenes what was der in maya memsaab, for dat i said it cheap, nthng else…
How on earth can Ra One be called a hit ????
hey team @indicine,JTHJ with 50cr budget nd 120cr Collns is just a HIT?? :O what the hell…same ready with 35-40cr budget nd SAME COLLECTIONS was A BLOCKBUSTER.can u explain how?
nd why COMPLETELY neglecting overseas data?
look at the success rate awesome & checked the success rate of sallu whose fans claims that he is the king of bollywood , boxoffice blah!blah!……..sallu’s atbb(5) with 3 diaseaster, 29 flops true boxoffice king…………..only king khan rules…………….love you…..
Not 5 he’s got 9 atbbs
I want become Shahrukh Khan
My Best actor
My best SRK film, DDLJ, IN ALL
I Like SRK Hair style
I LOVE YOU SHAHRUKH KHAN
Why are people creating a fuss about cameo appearances? Even if its a cameo appearance, he contributed to a particular movie. Just go check every other actors box office analysis then you will understand what im trying to say :). Oh and heeeyy calm down, this is no big deal. At least he is one of the finest actor in bollywood right? One day SRK, Salman, Aamir will be old and another generation will rule the box office. All three Khans had given all time blockbusters, blockbusters, semi-hits, hits, flops and disasters. There’s no need to argue, the three of them are considered the KING KHANS and they have took turn to rule the BO :)
Cheers!

you can see whole page there is no movie name of “kabhi haan kabhi na”
but there is flop movie anjam is shown on this page at 16 no.
anjaam movie’s collection was 3.25 cr. & it was flop
kabhi haan kabhi naa’s collection was 3.50 cr
& INDICINE calling this movie A “HIT”
THAT TIME A MOVIE IS CALLED HIT WHEN ITS COLLECTION PASSED TO
7 CR. YOU CAN SEE THE SRK MOVIE LIST BY INDICINE (OF BOI.COM)
(agar kabhi haan kabhi naa ke collection reality me 3.50 cr
hote to uska naam anjaam movie se pahle hota this movie is
really A FLOP movie)
& these facts are showing that INDICINE is A SRK FAN
& total movies of srk is 71 to 74
he is more consistance actor because he choose aamir’s path of doing 1 or 2 movies
in a year now salman also choose that path…. thats why aamir, salman & srk’s movies
are doing great bussiness
akshay & ajay not choose that path thats why they havent able to make consistency
in their movies they also are very brilliant actor…
AKSHAY KUMAR, AMIR KHAN, AJAY DEVGN HAVE MORE CONSISTENCY
IN THEIR FILMS
THEY DID ALL TIPE OF MOVIES
WHAT REALY MEANS CONSISTENCY
LOVE STORY, DRAMA, ACTION, COMEDY, SOCIAL, SUSPENSE THRILLER
NOT LIKE SRK HE IS DOING SAM TYPE OF MOVIES
ACCEPT – BAZIGAR, DARR, SWADES, DEVDAS, CHAK DE INDIA, MOHHABBTEIN, DIL TO PAGAL HAI
& RAB NE BANA DI JODI
ALL OTHERS ARE SAME & COPY FROM HOLLYWOOD
Very true. Mindless romantic crap
i respect him as a great actor and most important a great man.
He was nothing in starting of his career but he came smoothly and now you all know that he is at the top in field of acting from last 20 years.
I does not mean that he is only a good hero and rest are bad….. but as an actor he is great.
Look at his variety in films like…. Darr, Bazigar, Anjaam, Don, Mohabattein, Josh, Swadesh, Chak De INdia, Chennai Express, Om Shanti OM………. Sorry DDLJ, Kabhi khusi kabhi gham, Veer zaara.
Please don’t use rustic words about him, he takes Indian cinema to next level with popularity more than Tom Cruise, his films poularity and VFX movies.
He is the Boss………………. A real superstar of our country without any golden spoon in mouth like Salman, Aamir, Ajay, Abhisek, Ranveer, Shahid< Hrithik……… Only Akki is as him without filmy backgroud.
Shubham
Srk is much better in acting than other actors he is king of all actors king is my favorite and will remain forever
It’s because of stupid movies of his that critically acclaimed movies always FAIL to make a mark in the box office. People like you love to appreciate his movies and then say there are no innovative movies in Bollywood. He’s no king or anything. He makes just mindless movies which are dumb as hell. DDLJ which everyone call the greatest movie ever made according to me is one of the DUMBEST movies ever made
Akshay Kumar Much better than SRK his total movies collect above 2200 Crore
He’s a national award winner too
Only for those ppl who r very happy that srk is behind aki n sallu plz lets get their ovrexicitement over ….srk chooses his film very carefully n olso he came after them n yet he has more popularity, more money, more power then aki n sallu,………..hahaha…hence proved….srk rocks…..!!!
Yeah he’s really very careful. That’s why he chose:
Dilwale
HNY which inspite of being a hit is criticized by everyone
Fan
Jhms
SRK is the best…….!!!!! I loved don 2 a lot .. Waitin foh don 3 … Most awaited movie by meee ever….!!!
what is this concept of above average film I don’t agree with it film’s either average or a hit! my mother thinks he is a monkey the only film of him she ever liked was ashoka. having said that stats clearly prove he is a badshah.he looks exhausted all the time so plz take some juices and look hydrated. he hardly eats I found this from a show.so atleast have ur breakfast regularly mojo
