Shahid Kapoor’s career looked promising right from the start when he made his debut in Ishq Vishq way back in 2003. He had acting talent, good looks and screen presence to become one of the top actors in the country. Some said he’s the next Shahrukh Khan. But despite films like Vivah and Jab We Met, his career is yet to hit the top gear.
When it comes to signing films, Shahid is as selective as Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan. The only difference being, their films go on to be far bigger grossers. His reluctance to sign more than one film at a time, hasn’t worked for him so far, as some of those rejected films have gone on to be major blockbusters.
But with two back-to-back successes in R… Rajkumar and Haider, the actor has a couple of medium budget films and a remake of a Telugu blockbuster lined up for release.

Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on the sets of Shandaar
Shaandaar (August / September 2015): Starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead, Shaandaar is directed by Vikas Bahl – who last directed one of 2014’s best films ‘Queen’. Vikas was also the director of the critically-acclaimed Chillar Party. The UK shooting schedule of the film was wrapped up recently and sources close to the film say, it could hit theatres in August or September 2015.
Farzi (Late 2015): Soon after Shaandaar, Shahid Kapoor will begin shooting for Farzi, a crime-thriller-drama with a good dose of humour. Farzi will be directed by director-duo of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K, who recently delivered the biggest disaster of 2014 – Happy Ending. Kriti Sanon of ‘Heropanti’ fame has been cast as the female lead. The supremely talented Nawazuddin Siddiqui is also a part of the cast. Farzi is expected to release in the last couple of months of 2015.
Magadheera remake (late 2016): The Hindi remake of Telugu film Magadheera has been in news for years now. Hrithik Roshan was said to be the leading contender to play Ram Charan Teja’s role, he didn’t sign the film. Ranbir Kapoor wasn’t interested. Ranveer Singh almost did the film, but decided to drop out. The remake rights are with Sajid Nadiadwala, who recently confirmed that he has signed Shahid Kapoor to play the lead role. Sajid himself will be directing the reincarnation tale after the super-success of Salman Khan’s KICK. The remake of Magadheera could be the turning point in Shahid Kapoor’s career, a film that could push him to the big league. Note: In an interview, Nadiadwala has confirmed the film and Shahid’s presence. However, the official announcement is yet to be made.
That’s Shahid Kapoor’s list of upcoming films in the next two years. He has opted out of ‘Heer and Ranjha’, Tiger Shroff has replaced him. If and when he signs more films, this page will be updated.
