After trouncing the competition (Mohenjo Daro) during the ‘Independence Day’ weekend this year, Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey were quick to announce their next film ‘Crack’ for the same weekend next year.
The announcement came just days after there were strong reports within the industry, that Imtiaz Ali and Shah Rukh Khan were eyeing the ‘freedom weekend’ to release their next film, which has already gone on floors in Prague.

Just when there was talk that SRK – Imtiaz were looking at 11 August 2017 as a potential date for their next film, comes a big announcement!

It’s a well known fact that Shah Rukh likes to announce the release dates of his film, only after it goes on floors. By sticking to this strategy the superstar has missed out on all the big dates.
While Eid is no longer an option for any actor other than Salman Khan, announcing films early for weekends like Diwali, Post IPL, Independence Day etc, can make the competition think twice before announcing their own film.
With the unexpected announcement of ‘Crack’ coming early, the makers of Imtiaz Ali’s film are now in two minds. If they go ahead and announce the film for the same date, it could set up yet another big clash, which puts the weaker film (even if it isn’t a bad film) at a much bigger risk.
There are other factors too – Akshay Kumar is on a career-high after two major multiplex hits in 2016. Neeraj Pandey himself has a big film like ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, if that film works, it would make ‘Crack’ bigger.
There are also reports that the makers are considering the Dusshera weekend, which has plenty of holidays, but the concern will be ‘Pre-Diwali’ period that will curtail the box office prospects of the film in the long run.
If the clash happens, it’ll not just be SRK vs Akshay, it’ll also be a clash between two acclaimed directors – Imtiaz Ali (Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met, Rockstar, Tamasha) and Neeraj Pandey (Special 26, Baby). Vote and tell us who your favourite director is.

So it means Saif ali Khan was the main lead for keemat matk while Akki was supporting or Shashi kapoor was main lead for Shaan Amit sir was supporting finally Sunny deol was supporting actor in Paap ki Duniya while chunky pandey was main lead. Rofl!!!!!!!!

he was ahead than srk in 2012 RR non holiday takes bigger opening than JTHJ

Salman fans love to hate srk & destroy his career so that salman can rule bollywood without any competition. SRK is the only actor who can defeat salman at present ( both in fan base & at BO). They know neither Akshay nor Ajay cannot come close to salman( in box office perspective). If there is close competition to salman then it is SRK only. Aamir is more depend on the content of the movie than stardom. People still hate SRK not Vivek oberoi/ Fardeen khan because they know the potential of fist one, they do not aware of latter two because they know these actors cannot come lose to salman even in dream also. Srk Imtiyaz combo will make a movie 200cr Blockbuster, don’t think Imtiyaz will release The Ring on Independence day , I think he will eyeing post IPL release.
And as Srks promise he want to release 3 movie every year so he can’t release all 3 movie on big holiday.
So Srk should release one movie on Eid, Diwali or Christmas and rest 2 movie on small holiday or normal day.
Akshay Kumar is an established star and has been in the industry since 25 years. How these guys manage to sustain for so long? Its all about quickly re-inventing themselves and their film choices. They have to possess the business accumen and make decisions accordingly. Akshay has seen many ups and downs and re-invented himself time and again. He tried his hands at romance, comedy, south remakes and now his recent film are mostly the thrillers with a tinge of patriotism. He is a true Superstar. Guys like Akshay, Ajay, Aamir and Salman deserve applauds just for sustaining for this long alone.
But there is one name amongst these superstars who never actually saw any dull or low phase. This probably could be the worst phase of his career and yet he is amongst the top 2 crowd pullers of the industry. If these stars have something in them which helped them sustain, Shahrukh Khan must be having something even more special about him as he not only managed to sustained but he redefined consistency. Think twice before writing him off. Dont you think he knows the rules of the game, he has bloody ruled the game for years. And dont you think he is clever enough to learn from his mistakes (Read Dilwale) and do you really think he is blind to what works and what not. Think twice before putting Akshay ahead of him, Shahrukh Khan is much much much bigger than Akshay Kumar and this is common sense.
