Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions and Hope Productions have joined hands to produce ‘English Vinglish’ director Gauri Shinde’s next film that will star Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
Producer Karan Johar took Twitter to make one of the biggest announcements of the year. He posted “Red Chillies Entertainment… Dharma and Hope Productions are proud to present Gauri Shinde’s next starring… SHAH RUKH KHAN and ALIA BHATT…”
Earlier, Gauri had announced that she would be directing her next film, but didn’t reveal anything about the star cast “Yes I am making my next film script done… well almost… going on the floors soon. Looking forward to be back in action”
Excited by the announcement, Alia Bhatt posted that she can’t wait to work with SRK
“Will no longer have any problem with my English Vinglish.. can’t wait to be directed by Gauri Shinde with the man himself Shahrukh Khan!!!”
This is the first time SRK and Alia will be seen together on-screen, which is the second directorial of Gauri Shinde after the worldwide success of ‘English Vinglish’ starring Sridevi in the lead.
However, SRK and Alia will not be seen opposite each other in the film. A source close to the project said “It’s a different, beautiful story about love. You cannot call it a love story, because Shah Rukh and Alia are not opposite each other. Shah Rukh is too old to be Alia’s lover”
If insider reports are to be believed, this untitled film follows the journey of a young girl who dates three men in her life and with each new relationship, discovers a new perspective on life.
The film will go on floors after the release of SRK’s Dilwale. Further details about the film is expected to out soon.

Gauri Shinde made a heart warming movie in 2012 called as English Vinglish . She won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Director and she completely deserved it . I have heard that there will be 3 Actors in this movie and according to sources all of them will be newcomers . But now when SRK is part of this movie then he can play one of those characters or he can play a entirely different role . So till casting is not complete the movie will focus around Alia . Even if SRK is playing a supporting role then it will be interesting to see SRK and Alia in a single frame . The movie will get a huge boost because it will be a completely new pair . I don’t want this movie to be Romantic . Because SRK is now turning 50 and this is not the age to do Romance . I hope Gauri does something different once again as she did with EV which was a totally new subject . Even if the movie has a Love Story SRK should not play a conventional romantic character .
