Dharma Productions’ Shaandaar has shown a huge drop in business on its second day at the box office. The film has collected Rs 7.55 crore, which is a 42% drop from Day 1.
The fate of the film has been sealed on Day 2 itself, as the word-of-mouth is mixed to negative and the film has failed to find appreciation among the youth – which was the film’s target audience.
‘Shaandaar’ was expected to perform well at high-end multiplexes, not just because of Dharma – Phantom backing, but also because of director Vikas Bahl (Queen fame) and Shahid-Alia pairing. Unfortunately, the drops at some big city multiplexes was sharp on Day 2 itself.
In comparison, 2 States which also benefitted from a holiday on Day 1, collected Rs 12.28 crore on Friday and Rs 11.89 crore on Saturday. The drop was negligible, but in the case of ‘Shaandaar’ it’s huge.
It remains to be seen where ‘Shaandaar’ goes from here. If the film shows a decent growth on Saturday and Sunday, the film could be heading towards weekend business of around 38-40 crore, but if the trend is poor, the Shahid – Alia starrer could end with weekend business of around 36 crore, which would be a very poor weekend considering the costs of the film.

Both shahid and Ranbir cant save the big bad movie whereas Akshay saved brothers from big loss,everybody can see the difference in the losses of each movie ,don’t compare Akshay with this guys ,they are also good but u can’t compare , I am saying because every time I see comments they always bash Akshay ,if the movie is good it works, average opening is enough for a good movie.

I fail to understand why producers keep giving big budget films to stars who havn’t proved enough mettle at the box office. Just because Sidharth, Shahid and Alia all had a good 2014 does not automatically mean they had the power to carry big budget films.

Producers should have realised that Shahid Kapoor’s fan following demands cheap songs like “Gandi Baat” n “Saree ke Fall Sa”.
Anyways, Shahid fans were crying clash with Bang Bang else Haider would have done 100 crores business easily.
Dekh lo, now Shahid has 4 day weekend n almost 20 days left for PRDP release. Is this much time not enough ?
Last year you ppl were chanting “quality cinema”, now see what ur star has given in the name of entertainment.

@ARJUN NANGISTAAN FAN: SRK’s first movie under Dharma was Duplicate which was a Flop!! and which was’nt a romcom.
Then they made KKHH under Dharma,a romcom and it achieved tremendous success and since then Dharma have been making only romcoms.I think except Agneepath hardly any of their movies worked which was’nt a romcom .
And Akki does’nt needs any of these big banners,take all these yrf-dharma films you youngistaan fan.We can’t do anything if Yrf’s head honcho Adi chopra thinks Arjun,ranveer are talented than akki.
I think shaandaar is released ahead of its time. It will developed as cult following after 5-6 years. It is very nice movie.

Shahid can’t anchor a movie on his own unless he has a good director. I see some people here comparing him to Roshan and that’s gotta be the joke of the year.
Shahid plz get back to hosting award shows on TV as you are the right choice for a host and can shake your leg if bored of doing the emceeing!!

Of all the rom coms trailers…..the best one was TWMR2……reason……..it had something to look forward to……..Kanagana’s double weird but brilliant avataar literally forced people to have a look and the content helped it sail past 150 cr…
This was not the case with the rom coms that came later…..though Kangana tried her best in Katti Batti….the script and direction was too poor……
Shandaar was cheap and vulgar to say the least in its promos……and for Gods sake, Shahid Kapoor just doesn’t suit in that kind of roles…..
The problem, as somebody pointed out earlier here, in such roles, he behaves like he is star….but no he is not……
I never liked his movies….but went to check out Kaminey and he did impress with his simple act and the one where he is no nonsense macho type………it was so refreshing to see him in that avataar…
Then he got Haider,….good choice…..and then came Phata Poster…..and now Shandaar where he is trying to be cool………this is so not his genre…
I watched his illogical Rambo..Rajkumar…..and in scenes where he is tough and doesn’t go overboard he does really well……he should realise that doing cool things ain’t not his cup of tea.
He is not srk or salman to carry the cool guy image……for his sake he should choose wisely from now on….
Karan johar is the biggest idiot in the world right now ……… Promoted and marketed shandaar as if he thought that this was going to earn 120+ at box office…….
Mark my words had karan johar promoted brothers the way he promoted shaandar brothers opening weekend could have been 65-75….

shahid kapoor and ranbbir are facing ups and downs in their career In the same way as Bhai was facing in the dark period of his career(2006-2009) Soon he came back strongly and guess what..8 back to back 100 crores,one 200 crores,one 300 crores film,7 blockbusters,1 semi hit(jai ho,1 suppperhit(wanted)in 6 yrs,Highest first phase overseas,highest footfalls of the decade,highest TRPs,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,etc etc etc Can you believe that???

Even bigger stars have given disasters be it Salman Srk Ajay Aamir hritik. So what. Varun and Rk will still lead the way though am with varun as 1st bet! Lovely actor and very talented.

Shahid Kapoor made his debut in 2003. How come he is still considered part of Youngistan or amongst newcomers, youngsters etc ???
Surely he cannot be categorised with actors like Varun Dhawan, Ranveer Singh, Sid Malhotra or Arjun Singh who all made debuts after 2010.
Even Ranbir Kapoor debited in 2007. EIGHT years ago. Why is he still a new actor?
Eight years is enough time to prove ones self and cross over from “new comer” and “youngistan” tag to seasoned and seccessful superstar category. At this rate, Shahid, Ranbir and co. will remain new comers in 2020 unless they deliver back to bsck hots and ecome bankable stars, which they are not. An odd hit or superhit film every few other years is the best they will achieve all their lives.
Afterall, stars like SRK, Salman were considered huge wothin fove years of their respective debuts. This is the sifference betwern ordinary and extra-ordinary.
Shahid kapoor is very unlucky , his poor sense of choosing scripts !! Actor of his caliber deserves better!!
I saw Shaandaat last night and honestly it was quite boring. Shahid and Alia probably were tricked or blindly signed because of banner involved who knows!.
Now waiting for PRDP to entertain us with the already hit music and Salman whom I expect will not disappoint!.

Why does Akki come into this?Or for that matter any other star?The film is bad,so it flopped,had it been good it would have been a hit.Shahid is a good actor,no doubts about that.The other actors you have mentioned are capable,and some of them legends in their own right.You cannot insult them like this.Every actor has hits and flops,but that doesn’t mean they lack star power
@ aashu the suck u want to hate Akki but he is really something special actor . Akki sir no need of support he is in industry from 25 years . I always think he is bigger than any actor today . Everybody want to be like Akki but it is not an easy task . I think u have forget to mention salman biggest disaster Marigold 1 crore even Akki sir first film Saugandh collected 1.5 crore at the box office before 25 year .
@Deadpool even if he promoted brothers and promoted gib sib baby on behalf of their producers 10x more than he did to shandaar No Akshay movie will cross Welcome back lifetime total. He is way behind in popularity and audience hardly know him. Even trp that I thought he would have an edge over others still very poor. Hardly can he sign any mega contract with the indian Tele and communcarions moguls ventures. Nothing to talk about! Okay yeah one of highest paid? Don’t be carried away even Pran was collecting higher than Amit Sir in the 70s!
