Salman Khan, the most bankable star in the industry today, started his career with Sooraj Barjatya’s Maine Pyaar Kiya which remains one of the biggest hits of his career. Barjatya was also instrumental in giving Salman a film like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian Cinema.
Some of his other hits in the 90s are Baaghi, Saajan, Karan Arjun, Jeet, Judwaa, Biwi No 1, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya.
It was after Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1999 that Salman’s career began to nose-dive. In the next 5 years (2000 – 2004), Khan had only two hits – Baghban (special appearance) and Mujshe Shaadi Karogi (multi-starrer). Tere Naam and Garv did reasonably good business.
Between 2005 and 2009, Salman had a few massively successful films like Partner and No Entry, but most of his films like Jaan-e-mann, Baabul, Salaam-e-Ishq, Yuvvraaj, Marigold – just to name a few – sank without a trace at the box office.
The biggest turning point in Salman’s career came when Prabhu Deva’s Wanted (2009) bought back the single-screen audience to theatres. Post the success of Wanted, Salman began to take his career more seriously, stopped doing films as favours to some of his friends in the industry and signed films that targeted both the single-screen and multiplex audience.
Dabangg released in 2010 and went on to break all possible box office records – the opening day, weekend and first week record of 3 Idiots. Ready was the biggest non-holiday grosser of all time. Bodyguard surpassed all records set by Dabangg only a year ago and Ek Tha Tiger almost joined the 200 crore club.
As things stand today, Salman Khan holds several records and is the undisputed ‘king’ of the domestic box office.
- Most 100 crore grossers (5 films)
- Most back-to-back blockbusters (5 films)
- Highest single day collections (Ek Tha Tiger 32.92 cr)
- Highest opening day collections (Ek Tha Tiger 32.92 cr)
- Highest first week collections (Ek Tha Tiger 137.15 cr)
- Most 150 crore grossers (2 films)

average actor but luckyruling film industry because of most of the movies are financed by muslims ahshan framosh director like sanjay leela bansali who really taught him acting gave a v stupid comments for guzarish very ill mannered ditched so many heroines and even peeta unko like ash katrina sara khandaisy shahhad a fight with all big personalities like amitabh shahrukh hritik ranvir singh ranbir kapur kabir khan vivek oberoi actor like ranvir overshadowed him in bazirao inspite of his v gud movie bajrangi bhai jaan he had a fight with vivek and shahrukh both but he became friend with shahrukh since he is muslim and superstar where asvivek appologised publically he spoiled the carrier of a v brilliant actor because of his connectios he spoke for pakistani actors recently ignoring the sentiments ofmost of thepeople but he is still lucky he is surviving because of hiscommunity
Salman super duper flop actor depends only body never z great actor over confident over attitude and criminal hit and run case and most anything corrupt man and dangerous terrorist daud, chota shakil relationship
Most of the recently release salman khan movies are Tollywood remake. Wanted, Ready, Bodyguard & Kick. All those movies got either super hit or blockbuster. So doing a copy for the movies which was a blockbuster in south India movies is not that great. try any new ideas. i accept dabang 1& 2 bajrangi bhajan and sultan which is a solid, and not any remake. Ek tha tiger was hit due to publicity. Sorry sallu fans.
Nothing want to say salman is the best
srk is best
no one compare srk bocz srk have alot of fan in world.even have more fan than tom cruise. srk onlywant fan love
Salman movies not made of high standards. but it will be hit due to publicity. he tried too hard to give a brand name for hi brothers and friends. but unfortunately it doesn’t successes. Sohail & Arbaaz & Himesh. Luckily Shah rukh who was close at that time got a chance in bazigaar as salman rejected due to negative character, become one of the biggest hit at that time. even though if salman was there in the movie. it might not got the same response. some of the character which was rejected by other actors was well played by shah rukh. DDLJ- rejected by Saif ali khan & salman khan too. but good that shah rukh rejected Munna Bhai series. he was not fit for the role. sanju baba – Arshad warsi is the perfect fit.
Salman is undisputed Sultan of Bollywod.Bhai is the only bankable Hero, who is guarantee of solo hero movies success. Being Salmon fan .
Kuch kuch hota hai is not salman’s movie for god’s sake remove it from this list this is so unfair with SRK . >_<
