Salman Khan, the most bankable star in the industry today, started his career with Sooraj Barjatya’s Maine Pyaar Kiya which remains one of the biggest hits of his career. Barjatya was also instrumental in giving Salman a film like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun one of the biggest blockbusters in the history of Indian Cinema.
Some of his other hits in the 90s are Baaghi, Saajan, Karan Arjun, Jeet, Judwaa, Biwi No 1, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya.
It was after Hum Saath Saath Hain in 1999 that Salman’s career began to nose-dive. In the next 5 years (2000 – 2004), Khan had only two hits – Baghban (special appearance) and Mujshe Shaadi Karogi (multi-starrer). Tere Naam and Garv did reasonably good business.
Between 2005 and 2009, Salman had a few massively successful films like Partner and No Entry, but most of his films like Jaan-e-mann, Baabul, Salaam-e-Ishq, Yuvvraaj, Marigold – just to name a few – sank without a trace at the box office.
The biggest turning point in Salman’s career came when Prabhu Deva’s Wanted (2009) bought back the single-screen audience to theatres. Post the success of Wanted, Salman began to take his career more seriously, stopped doing films as favours to some of his friends in the industry and signed films that targeted both the single-screen and multiplex audience.
Dabangg released in 2010 and went on to break all possible box office records – the opening day, weekend and first week record of 3 Idiots. Ready was the biggest non-holiday grosser of all time. Bodyguard surpassed all records set by Dabangg only a year ago and Ek Tha Tiger almost joined the 200 crore club.
As things stand today, Salman Khan holds several records and is the undisputed ‘king’ of the domestic box office.
- Most 100 crore grossers (5 films)
- Most back-to-back blockbusters (5 films)
- Highest single day collections (Ek Tha Tiger 32.92 cr)
- Highest opening day collections (Ek Tha Tiger 32.92 cr)

@indicine when will you update bajrangi bhaijaan in this list???? it’s on its way to become ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER. please.
Include also sultan,prdp,tzh..
kuch kuch hota hai is not the movie of salman khan it should be removed from the list the hero in that movie was srk
For guys who do not want to calculate kkhh as salman’s hit movie then why are they putting many of flops at on his name as he had also guest appearance in those flops…..I must say he liked them to be on his name as flops but did not break the hearts of people who made those films…..If SK was selfish like SRK then his success might have been far better than SRK and AK
salman is ‘ KING OF THE BOX OFFICE’

Salman all time block buster Salman khan pure Bollywood ka baap he sare pani Ku he Salman Ki jay hooooo
Salman has done more Nos. of films than SRK and Amir. His blockbusters are more than SRK & Amir. Hence, his all fims total box office collection Rs.2434Cr is also No.1 and no actor still reach to this figure. For Andaz apna apna, it is stated as flop is not understood since in Pune and Mumbai the film has made silver jubilee. SRK & Amir can succeed only quality films, but recently from last 3-4 years, it is seen that Salman can make blockbusters like Dabang, Dabang2, Ready, Kick which are not that much quality films. Hence, his stardom is great. If Salman would have get films like Gajni, Singham, Holiday, then this film would have collect Rs.200Cr to Rs.350Cr easily. The quality film like Bajarangi Bhaijaan has collected Rs.320 Cr is a example for the same.
a real hero
