The much-hyped box office clash between Rustom and Mohenjo Daro has turned out to be a damp squib at the box office, as one film – which was unfortunately the much bigger one when it comes to costs – couldn’t even put up a fight.
Rustom not only took a better opening, but the gap between the film and Hrithik Roshan starrer widened with each passing day. It started with a difference of around 60% and increased to 70% over the weekend. Weekdays onwards, Rustom was running at 2-3 times the collections of Mohenjo Daro.
The end result? A film that was made on a 100 plus crore budget will finish with net box office collections of less than 60 crore. In fact, the worldwide gross (including theatre share and taxes) will not cross the amount that was invested into the film.

Rustom on the other hand will be hugely profitable. In fact, it’ll be the most profitable Akshay Kumar film since Rowdy Rathore and OMG! Oh My God (extended special appearance). A well-planned marketing strategy, clever decision to clash and Akshay’s growing truth amongst the city audience, has all ensured that the film over-performed at the box office – exceeding even the limitations of the genre and appeal that the film holds.
While Rustom is one of the biggest successes of Akshay’s career, Mohenjo Daro will be the biggest loss making film for Hrithik.

When you are showing a Love story in the name of Historical period drama then Result will be EPIC DISASTER, result would have been even worse if this movie stars some Fresh Pairing, Hrithik should atleast do 1 movie per year, and his movies budget should have been low (in the range of 80-100cr) If you are doing ‘Quality’ films like Bang Bang/Mohenjo Daro in a gap of 2 yrs then Hats off to your mentality ! Kya socha tha ? Audience khussh hogi, Shabhashi degi ???? Siddharth Anand or Ashutosh Gowarikar are not the kind of directors who will give u big grosser. Don’t destroy your career by copying others (who is already a Megastar)

AB…yes not shitty as dilwale and HNY… but indeed shitty…. compare the budget and scale of YLJK and MD…MD failed in every aspect.. the vfx of a 100 crore+ film is very very poor and story is predictable and cliched…. nothing is shown about the Mohenjo-Daro city except barter system and Earth ie flat… don’t know where all these crores went

Although I am not hrithik fan but those morons who say that gobar has more stardom are simply out of nuts. Floppy is nothing in front of hrithik. Just because a better product beating poor rejected product doesn’t make the difference between the leading actor of the film. MD was a rejected film and chustom was better recieved that’s why it earned more. Also whole bollywood promoted chustom a lot. Which helped a certain tiny star like gobar. Wait and watch, hrithik will give much bigger grossers in the future once he will start choosing right films.
barter system ,the great bath and how mohenjo daro civilisation destroyed was shown if u want to learn something from the movie and i admit that vfx r not good but 15 cr. were marketing cost and 68 cr. was HR’s fee(and u can’t blame him for that hrithik give his everything to the movie) so the production cost was just around 50 cr. and i talk abt yljk bcoz u were bashing on collections otherwise i have no problem with srk even i like his acting
