Akshay Kumar’s Rustom has recorded the 4th highest opening day of 2016, behind films like FAN and Housefull 3. Salman Khan’s Sultan, of course, tops the list by a country mile and cannot be compared to any other film that has released in 2016.
Rustom has held strongly on Saturday too and the collections are set to grow towards the end of the day. If the film holds up, it could take advantage of the extended 4-day weekend at the box office.
Akshay Kumar now has 3 films in the Top 5, which includes Airlift and Housefull 3. In terms of occupancy, it’s the best opening for an Akshay Kumar film since Rowdy Rathore in 2012.
It’s also only the second Hindi film this year that can be categorised under ‘excellent’ because a total of 14.11 crore is outstanding given the fact that it was competing against a big film like ‘Mohenjo Daro’.

Akki single handedly demolished a huge magnum opus…….and with an average to mix reviewed movie.
Aamir started the trend of doing great movies, and he successfully did, raising his stardom and expectations.
Salman went for a more subtle role with BB when he could easily have done a safe movie on the lines of Dabangg……it paid off immensely….and crowd are appreciating his act in Sultan too.
Akki tried a different route of completely professional approach where he picks brilliant subjects and does a quick schedule, covering 3-4 movies, in a year, and build a good repo with the multiplex audiences…..and the results are all to see.
Srk tried with CE was successful, but inconsistency of script choices has not helped his cause
Hro tries Aamir style of doing 1 or 2 movies in a year or two, but a wrong script could bring all down, until unless you are damn sure…..and that is what is happening…..
Aamir is completely involved in the film making process, from the script stage to the casting, direction, production, marketing, promotions etc., and hence he needs time for the same, so his doing a film in a year or two is justified, and he makes it sure that it does a humungous collections.
Akki doesn’t do it, and is only involved in giving his best to the character. Hence, he can manage 3-4 movies in a year.
Hro is neither involved in the movies fully, nor he is managing his time…….so infact he is completely not justifying his signing movie once in 2 years.
He should either be completely involved like Aamir, or do back to back movies…..It is time for him to revisit his strategy……..with Varun, Tiger and others already closing in, and giving the makers an alternate choice, Hro has to sit and think out a good plan.

Just watched Rustom… It’s a riveting courtroom drama with interesting turn of events… A must watch, rarely we get such a tout courtroom thriller.. Ladt time Sanjay Gupta’s attempt with Jazbaa was half baked… But Rustom keeps the interest building… One of the best thrillers in recent times…
