Rocky Handsome has performed poorly at the box office on Friday, inspite of the fact that it was a national holiday for Good Friday. The film opening day box office collections of the film should be in the 6.5 crore range, which would take the total including paid previews (Rs 1.84 crore) to around the 8.25 – 8.5 crore mark.
The actual collections without the holiday advantage would have been around the 5 crore mark, which is at around the same level as John’s 2011 release ‘Force’.
The problem for the action film was business at multiplexes, which remained poor throughout the day. The occupancy at metro cities was lower than both ‘Batman vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ and last week’s release ‘Kapoor & Sons’.
‘Batman vs Superman’ was phenomenal, what with the film set to cross the 14 crore mark including paid previews on Thursday. However, the reports for the Hollywood film are poor, so it remains to be seen how well it performs during the weekdays.
‘Kapoor & Sons’ has crossed the 50 crore mark and should comfortably cross 60 crore by the end of its second weekend. The film now has a fairly good chance of becoming the 2nd highest grosser of the year – beating the 75 crore total of Neerja, which is currently behind 2016’s highest grosser Airlift (127 crore).
‘Kapoor & Sons’ could also beat the 70 crore total of Sidharth and Alia’s debut film ‘Student Of The Year’ and also the 77 crore total of Varun Dhawan’s ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. The film is on course to be a ‘Super Hit’ and a big winner for Dharma Productions after two back-to-back debacles in the form of ‘Brothers’ and ‘Shaandaar’.

@Babaji, our prediction and expectation are two completely different things. We predicted 5.2 for Fitoor, which would’ve still been a poor opening day.
Rocky handsome was Average flick and also it appealed more to single screen & mass Audience… that’s y collection was poor… but in the case of Batman vs superman… there was more demand in metro cities & high ticket price also…
In kerala, Rocky Handsome has good report & About 60 % occupancy in Calicut, Kairali theatre…because John Abraham’s father was malayali….

I totally enjoyed Rocky Handsome though the 1st 30min were slow but the knife fight scene was simply amazing.
Honestly best indian action film i have ever seen,the action scenes were hollywood standard.

Rocky handsome lifetime is looking around 35-40 crs. as reports are not encouraging.
My prediction for Lifetime:-
Rocky Handsome – 37crs.
Batman Vs Superman – 64crs.
Kapoor & sons – 71 crs.
Captain America : Civil War will be much better movie than Batman vs Superman.
Last minute addition of Spiderman will give huge boost to the collections if Captain America .
Should do at least 80 crs in India.

Even Batman V Superman is a good movie…And critics that are true fans of cinema are telling people the watch it…It will not crash, as Batman and Superman are most famous superheroes in India Pakistan,etc….And superhero movies don’t care about reviews…..Everyone should watch it, especially those that love a bit of darker cinema along with Rocky Handsome…
@Indicine, I think if a movie is clashing with 2 other movies and has gotten the worse reviews among the three, these collections are excellent…Besides, Holiday only has an affect when film has heroes who everyone wants to watch…Many people don’t want to watch JA film that is why collections are low but film is awesome

Yes, Captain A Civil War will be bigger, but Spiderman was not a last minute addition, as Spidey was was an instrumental part in the comics of Civil War……..however, due to Spidey’s rights being with Sony, the script went in for a change as the deal took time to finalise, and hence it is rumoured that Spidey will have limited screen time……and also because of the rights issue Andrew Garfield not playing the role……any crossover that involves Spidey with Marvel will have new actor reprising the role.

@JC, get your facts straight!!! This isn’t a Civil War remake..It is only inspired by it…It is a completely different storyline…And Spider-man has only a small part to play in this as the new script doesn’t require him….Marvel was scared that Batman v Superman would beat them at box office so they also made Iron Man V Captain america but named it as Civil War…
