- Highest Single Day 2016: Housefull 3 (Sunday) 21.80 crore

- Highest First Week 2016: Airlift 83.5 crore
- Highest Second Weekend 2016: Airlift 19.26 crore
- Highest Second Week 2016: Airlift 28.79 crore
- Highest Grossing film of 2016: Airlift 128.45 crore
All 2016 records won’t just be surpassed, but will be decimated by Sultan. It could double the previous best. Sultan could also become the highest Hindi grosser of 2016 in 5 days or less if the film finds appreciation. Even with average word-of-mouth, it’s a foregone conclusion that the Salman Khan film will race past Airlift.
The targets that can do justice to Salman’s stardom will be those at all-time levels. As far as opening records are concerned, Happy New Year will be the film to beat. When it comes to lifetime, if the word-of-mouth is strong, comparisons will immediately begin with Bajrangi Bhaijaan and PK. If the film gets a mixed response, we could be looking at Chennai Express and Kick. If the film turns out to be very poorly made, then Bodyguard and Dabangg 2 will be more realistic comparisons.
