Remember the iconic on-screen duo of Amar and Prem from Rajkumar Santoshi’s cult-classic Andaz Apna Apna? Well, here’s good news for all those who have been waiting for a sequel to arguably the best Hindi comedy of all time - a film that was way ahead of its time when it released.
Rumours are abound that Santoshi will begin work on Andaz Apna Apna 2 after the release of Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. The director, who is apparently mighty impressed with Shahid Kapoor’s comic timing, is keen on casting the actor again to play one of the two iconic characters of Amar or Prem.

A source who has worked with Santoshi in quite a few films also says that the director initially wanted to cast the original duo of Salman and Aamir Khan, but is well aware of the fact that it would be an uphill task to convince the two actors, especially Aamir who is known to take his own sweet time before signing a film.
The other actor that Santoshi has in mind is his Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani star Ranbir Kapoor.

first of all @ indicine this is not a confirmed news this is a rumour . it has not been confirmed by rajkumar santoshi . but if this happens then it is very early to comment whether ranbir and shahid can play amar and prem convicingly or not .
@Saksham, even if they are signed for AAA2 and play their parts convincingly, comparisons will still be inevitable and the newer version will always pale in comparison.
With the different characters its not a sequel of andaz apna apna., producer just want to cash in in the name of andaz apna apna., don’t know what’s going on everybody using the hit movies name just to cash in, if the movie is different story n with different characters how it would b andaz apna apna 2, please convince me even though the director is same , better they make remake so only they can call Aaa2 otherwise follow up the story like krish3 which is a true sequel but with different characters its not possible… Rip andaz apna apna
i agree @ indicine but when agneepath was about to be remade everybody said that hrithik could not play vijay deenanath chauhan convincingly but he outperformed everybody . audiences appreciated his performance , even critics and even people from older generations appreciated and said that hrithik has given a unique tribute to the character of vdc . because of which he did not get even one award for agneepath but still his performance will be remembered for a long long time . @ indicine do you feel that ranbir and shahid can deliver those kind of performances that aamir and salman did .

@indicine though it was a film of finest quality, it cannot be called best when we have films like golmaal( amol palekar) & padosan.

@Indicine Team, how can you say it’ll pale in comparison when they still haven’t made it? what if they come up with a brilliant script? and their are so many things in that a sequel can win over the original film. In andaz apna apna cinematography, music, female lead performances, and art direction was poor. so the sequel can easily take over on those points. so indicine please don’t demean something JUST like that.
It will be awesome to see Ranbir and Shahid in AAA2

i m surprised why santoshi is willing to make a sequel of flop classic? if any one have any objection just check the boxoffice verdict of AAA. Flop so how u can call a classic to flop film its just a bias act.

@HNYRocks.. Do you know the meaning of “This film was way ahead of its time when it released”…. It was released minimum 10 to 15 early …. Film was a big flop (as all know it ) as Audience of that time didn’t accepted that type of comedy as it was out of box. Now a days People thinking is different and it was well received in the form of CD’s/DVD’s. AAA has record sales in Cd’s / DVD’s . Based on these analysis it is declared as “Classic”
If you still didn’t like the movie, then Ur thinking is still same as the people used to think @ the time of AAA release. So you have to wait another 15 years to understand this movie. :)

Aamir & Salman for these roles?!! Nahhh.. they’re old for these type of comedy films.. need younger stars..I think the best two to do this comedy flick is : Shahid with Varun Dawan.. Ranbir is tall and Shahid is short.. but I think that Varun Dhawan will be very good to play one of the roles.. I can’t remember the story of the film as I didn’t like it, but.. these 2 will be good to work together.
