After releasing announcing ‘Krrish 4’ last week, Rakesh Roshan has clarified that he has no plans of releasing the film with Shah Rukh Khan and Aanand L Rai’s next.
Roshan said it would be ‘unethical’ to release his film on the same day as Shah Rukh had already announced his film.
“It is unethical for me to release my film on this date as Shah Rukh has already announced his movie”
However, the veteran filmmaker was quick to add that he will never move ‘Kaabil’, but said Shah Rukh is like a younger brother to him.
“I had announced the date for Kaabil earlier. If they are coming on the same date, then I can’t do anything about it. I don’t know what they will eventually decide. We’re here to make films, not create controversies. As far as Shah Rukh is concerned, he’s like a younger brother to me. I gave him a break in King Uncle, and then worked with him in Karan Arjun and Koyla.”
Roshan also gave the example of ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ a film that marked the debut of Hrithik Roshan, which released a week after Aamir’s Mela and a week before Shah Rukh’s Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani – and went on to outgross both films at the box office.
“I don’t move my release date, if I have announced it first. When Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai was releasing on January 14, 2000, Aamir Khan’s Mela was coming on January 7, Shah Rukh’s Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani on January 21 and Anil Kapoor’s Pukar on February 4. Some distributors suggested I move my film as Hrithik was a newcomer. They left the film because I didn’t change my release date.”

@AB Well briefed my brother That record of Debutant movie that became HGOTY will most likely never going to be witnessed that’s the standard Hrithik Sir set. The only one I can remember that came close was Ajay Devgn for 91 PaK had Sallu/Sanjay Saajan not been released.

Its all upto Raees makers whether to clash or not. If clash then they will suffer mostly due to their budget. If they want to good date, why dont they prefer to release along with Dangal given the festival period of time But clashing on Republic day which is not at all a great time to release. Only the advantage of Republic day holiday..!!!
Kaabil has all the rights to stick to 26th Jan as they have locked the date first. If Raees, then both will suffer for sure at BO..!!

I comment in your previous article and asked you about the same as I admire your work but I never found the officual announcement of Kkrish 4 release date. It was just a rumoured date. Mr Roshan do announce that Kkrish 4 is happening but never told about the release date…

@sami srk won the clash coz of a better product ,yes HR was hot after knph and he proves it in opening mission kashmir op. Was around 60% higher than mohobatein and SRK was already a superstar @ that time and HR was just 2 movies old .Srk was not tushar kapoor @ that time
This mess is all because of Ritesh Sidhwani . Roshans announced Kaabil first , but don’t worry HR fans – I’ll watch both Raees and Kaabil . But Raees on FDFS , and Kaabil on a later date probably Sat/Sun . Cheers !

This clash is not between SRK and Hritik…….it is Srk vs Rakesh Roshan who had given SRK big breaks…….Raesh Roshan has shown his generosity by not playing mind games and straight away announcing that there would be no clash during Christmas 2018……..I feel, thesenior should be respected….
More so, having a solo release is more prudent than clashing on a holiday………more so when its a big film like Raees with universal audience……Jan 13 is not a bad date with Lohri/Mankar Sakarkranti/Pongal falling around that time……Not to forget Jan 26 is just one holiday, its not a week of holidays like the three major festivals of the year!

If, as @ Anand the original, observed, and K4 releases a week earlier, then Rakesh has killed two birds with one stone…..
One, he moved away from the date, saying it is unethical to book a date which was already booked, while indirectly pointing that srk has still not moved from the date that he had first booked for Kaabil.
Second, with holiday period of Xmas, if K4 is good, and being a successful franchise it will work throughout the holiday period, denting the business of Srk’s movie……until unless srk’s movie is too damn good…….but still risky for srk, as people don’t want to spend too much money in back to back movies due to high cost of tickets….

Rakesh ji playing games here. Even a kid will understand he announced Krissh 4 to put pressure Excel & SRK. He tried Saanp bhi marjaaye aur lathi bhi naa totte trick. Some highlight of the context is a debutant thrashed SRK’s dream debut as a producer in 2000. Some srk fans still cry over GTGH vs BAH at least Ranbir was not a debutant when GTGH (a delayed awful movie) lost it like Hrithik did to dream project.

Rakesh sir announced krrish 4 on Christmas 2018 as he think SRK will run away after this announcement.But SRK will not run this time.so Rakesh sir tastes his own medicine.May be it is publicity stunt of him.first announced his movie for Christmas and after 1 week take U turn.
