Rakesh Roshan targets Christmas 2018 for Krrish 4

Last morning, Hrithik Roshan had tweeted a link with a picture of a Krrish idol made to look like Ganpati. It was a hint that the father-son duo of Rakesh Roshan and Hrithik were planning on making the fourth film in the Krrish franchise.

Now, we have been able to get confirmation that Rakesh Roshan has indeed decided to make Krrish 4. The script isn’t ready yet and the film won’t go on floors anytime soon, but the producer-director is targeting the Christmas 2018 weekend to release the biggest superhero film of the industry.

Times Of India also quoted Rakesh Roshan as saying ”When my wife showed me a tweet with Bappa’s picture as Krrish, it reaffirmed my belief that Krrish is the original superhero we have. It boosted my confidence and inspired me to make the fourth instalment. Ganesha is also called the God of Auspicious beginnings. I guess this was his way of saying that we have his blessings for Krrish 4.”

If the plan is to release ‘Krrish 4’ during Christmas 2018, it would set up a clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s untitled film directed by Aanand L Rai – which was announced last week. It’s too early to confirm the clash, because Roshan doesn’t usually start his films before he is entirely convinced by the script.

Hrithik and SRK will take each other on during the ‘Republic Day’ weekend next year when ‘Raees’ releases on the same day as ‘Kaabil’.

The entire Krrish series – which started with ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ in 2003, followed by ‘Krrish’ in 2006 and ‘Krrish 3’ in 2013 has been hugely successful. In fact, when Rakesh Roshan has directed Hrithik, the duo have set box office records. They delivered the highest grosser of the year twice with ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ and ‘Koi Mil Gaya’.
