Rajkumar Hirani has issued a statement to the media, expressing sadness and concern over the protests that are taking place all over the country. The director said that he respects all religions and faiths. He also added that the inspiration for PK came from the teachings of Sant Kabir and Mahatma Gandhi.

I’m deeply saddened and concerned about the protests by some groups against our film PK. On behalf of the entire team of PK, I would like to clarify that we respect all religions and faiths.
Our film is inspired by the ideas of Sant Kabir and Mahatma Gandhi. It is a film, which brings to fore the thought that all humans who inhabit this planet are the same. There are no differences.
Our intention is not to hurt anyone, or to discriminate against any religion. I would once again like to assure them that I have the highest regard towards all religions, and that we respect all religions and faiths.
I have the highest respect for the concept of ‘Advait’- the oneness of all humans – that is central to Indian culture, thought, and religion. It saddens me to think that a film that upholds this great Hindu principal is accused of being disrespectful of Hinduism. I would like to thank the millions of deeply religious people who have loved the film and feel that it upholds the spirit of true religiosity and condemns only the abuse of it.
I believe in the great Hindu idea’Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – the whole world is a family. Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, and indeed all religions, teach us brotherhood and love. The intent of the film is to uphold this great thought.

It was terrible movie with recycled jokes that have done many round on what’s app . The most disturbing aspect was unmistakable anti Hindu seance of the movie and to cover it up they showed somevcosmetic anti islam and anti Christianity scenes. The reason is simple if the movie makers had made fun of Islam and Christianity even half as much as they did to Hindus, perhaps Hirani wouldn’t have lived beyond one week from release of movie.
Finally I got chance to watch the movie so I can be the witness of it controversial theory, being a true Muslim living in Canada performing our religious ratiuals I have to say this movie is mocking the Hinduism in so many ways…… I love the movie,it’s script, ,acting,comedy what else I should count to say this is great movie but ones you think about in the depth of it’s message….. It is a mocking to hindisium. I Can say it is Amir presence who made that much money and definitely passed by cencer board is only because of him.
