Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees was steady on its 3rd day, with business dropping by around 30-35% from its first day (Wednesday) at the box office. The film has crossed the 50 crore mark in 3 days and when the final collections come in, it should get close to 60 crore.
The first extended weekend (5 days) of Raees should be in the 90 crore range and the film will become the first 100 crore grosser of the year by the end of its first week.
There are 13 more days to go before the release of Jolly LLB 2, giving Raees enough time to target the 150 crore mark at the domestic box office.
The other release of the week, Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, has shown a solid trend too. The drop in business from Friday is around 5%. From the 23 theatres that we tracked, 9 theatres bettered Wednesday collections, while the rest were a little below.
The fate of Kaabil now depends on how it performs over the next three days. The growth on Saturday and Sunday, followed by the level of business on Monday will decide whether or not the film can recover costs.

Again…good things coming from your side about kabil…you have always been biased about kabil …why are my comments not getting posted..!!!! Ridiculous..I do have the freedom of speech…and here I am seeing that my comments have not yet been published..!!!!wow indicine. .
They didn’t post my comments and review too, coz that was against Raees (actually that wasn’t, that was honest review that wasn’t contained any wrong or bad about Raees….
@Indicine, what type of moderation do u have ? moderates only anti-srk comments.! My comment wasn’t posted coz it had something true but bitter about Raees. All other commitments have been posted except that True review. At the time of PRDP or other films u didn’t moderate anti comments then why r u moderating now ? why so biasness towards srk ?! If u aren’t bias then post my comments which will be coming after this.
Film is Good but it’s not a mass film…. It’s Action Thriller and only Laila is there for Mass Audience. But better film than Recent srk films…. It’s little bit Dark… I mean it is dark thriller and it is not for those who want Light entertainment. But i like this type of serious films. Except Action (funnier than south) everything in the film is real and good
@Indicine post this of u r nt bias
i m so happy that indian audience were smart by rejecting this movie akka kabil who on earth watch a movie where a blind taking revenge and wears wristwatch???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it s a good lesson for the roshans to stop treating audience like they are donkeys
manipulation and paying critics to fake up 4***star reviews wont make ur movie suceessful so roshans better invest that money on ur product rather than choosing crooked ways like u always u did and stop crying like a crybaby learn from your son being WELL PUT together and wise
Predictability is a for that has scarred many a film, and Raees is unfortunately one of its biggest victims. The rise and fall of a ganglord, whose skirmishes with police and politicians lead to his downfall is not exactly a novel idea. But a different treatment would have worked wonders on any stale story. And here’s where Rahul Dholakia falters big time. Despite providing a larger than life image to his hero, Dholakia fails to make the narrative engaging and coherent for the audience he is targeting. It’s interesting to draw parallels to another gangster drama, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai , with Raees as both have similar plots set in similar period setting. But the former knows its audiences and accepts its masala persona. Raees , meanwhile, is stuck in a limbo of whether to be a realistic drama or a masala entertainer but doesn’t do justice to either. The scenes of Raees’ ascension to power, how he hoodwinks the police and wins an election from jail are written in a very lazy manner. The terrorism angle that should have been the tension-building twist turns out to be another yawn-worthy plot device for the writers who seemed clueless as to how to end this. However the biggest letdown of Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees is the love track between Raees and his wife, that looks like an afterthought than a proper track. There is zero chemistry between SRK and Mahira, even with random insertion of songs here and there. Mahira mostly has the role of a decorative showpiece, while talented actors like Zeeshan Ayyub and Atul Kulkarni are sadly wasted. The editing is below par, while the music and the art direction are ho-hum.
Above all, it is Shah Rukh Khan who disappointed me the most. Upstaged many a time by his co-stars, we feel the actor is trying too hard, but the movie does not offer him anything exceptional to do. Even with the those kohl eyes, we can only see Shah Rukh Khan the actor and not the character in the role. His character might be a do-gooder to his people, but we can’t help but see through Majmudar’s eyes and think of him as man who gained power and money through illegal means. The movie wants us to sympathise with him, but gives us no good reason or a brilliant scene to do so.

Why there is always an issue related to FILMKRAFT production??? It raises some eyebrows…
Kaabil (Hindi) flattered to deceive on day two with its huge jump as reports of the film on release were not good. The jump was a real big surprise but it shows what difference a big national holiday can make. After that huge jump the business has gone below its day one business at 7.50 crore nett which is poor and and leaves it facing a near impossible task. The film needed double digits on day three for survival but it has fell well short. The three day business of the film is around 31 crore nett which is a poor total and its even worse considering there was a huge holiday in the three days, without that the film would have had a disaster three days The first three day business of Kaabil (Hindi) is as follows..
Thursday – 8,00,00,000
Friday – 15,50,00,000
Saturday – 7,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL – 31,00,00,000 apprx
Its all about some respectability for the film now as its unlikely to see that 50-60% growth on Saturday which would put it back in the reckoning. These things just don’t happen after such big drops. It has now improve well over the weekend which gives it some chance for the weekdays to be high enough so it has screen count in week two to bring in some collections at least.#BOIUPDATE
