Three of the biggest box office openers this year – Ra One, Ready and Bodyguard – are all masala flicks catering to a huge audience both in India and overseas. While Ready and Bodyguard cost less and were far less promoted, the opening numbers are comparable with Shahrukh Khan’s ambitious Ra One.
Day 1: Bodyguard released during EID and Ra One for Diwali, both holidays but the SRK starrer was affected by Diwali celebrations as collections witnessed a sharp dip for the afternoon and evening shows. Bodyguard of course, released on less number of prints went on to do 21 crores of business on Day 1 in India. Ready was a non-festive release and still did well. Winner – Bodyguard
Day 2: Belongs to SRK’s Ra One. The film had a historic Thursday amassing collections in excess of 24 crores – the biggest single day collections in the history of the Hindi film industry. Comparatively, Bodyguard did pretty well too. Ready was much lower. Winner – Ra One
Day 3: While collections of dubbed regional language versions plunged, Ra One in Hindi (especially the 3D version) was rock solid considering that it was a working day in most parts of the country. Bodyguard too was steady, witnessing approximately the same percentage of drop on the third day of its release. Ready picked up considerably as it was a Sunday. Winner – Ra One

As is pretty evident from the table above, Ra One is ahead by more than 15% compared to the second best – Bodyguard. If combined with overseas business, Ra One is way ahead of all Hindi releases so far this year.
Irrespective of what happens from here on, SRK has proved once again, that he belongs right up there somewhere in the Top 3. Don 2 is likely to be less promoted and it should be interesting to see how it matches up to these 3 money-spinners.

Ra one as done reasonably well on Saturday with business of around 15 crores nett, taking it’s all India total to 74 crores (including regional versions). did u heared this news…..???
These all news come frm reliable source… not frm ur mouth who know nothing abt box office.. u can sit in ur home and tell watever u want… but the boxoffice collection wil never get affected by the fans of Remake khan…. get lost and wait for the next remake film frm your remake khan…
That may be true for some multiplexes but that may be because of eid, bodyguard’s length was also shorter than ra.one.
@ raj Its not fair to neglect tamil n telugu versions…….the box office comparision should include whole india ……..u cannot neglect south….SRK has huge fan following in south india so he released the film here in tamil n teleugu . thats not his fault …..people here still remember his films DDLJ,dil se,KKHH ….salmaan is not famous in south ……….he used to be famous only for some bad controversies.

@indicine,even if u are to add tamil + telugu…den since robot was also released as a hindi film then y not add the tamil + telugu versions also and name it d biggest hindi film…wat is unfair in d matter..bodyguard neva heard a tamil and telugu version…nd u expect to compare ra.one all languages with bodyguard hindi..total rubbish…

mujhe sallu ki yeh movies ka collections chahiye.. Marigold, god tussi great ho, saawariya, babul, kyon ki, jaaneman, hello, heroes, shaadi karke phas gaya yaar, yuvraaj, saawan, veer, etc etc….in filmon mein se sallu ki 12 flop filmein hai. Iska video youtube pe dekh lena, bahut mazaa aayega
@deepak kumar………..SRk ne bhi “Billu Barbar” banayi thi…wo bhi malayalam ki dubbed movie thi…uske baad tho srk barber ko bhi mun dikhane ke khaabil na raha….dum ho tho remake ko bhi hit banana koi salman se seekhe……jitne bhi remake kiye sabhi blockbuster…..doosron ne bhi tho try liya …like, Don, Devadas, umraojaan, force, kai movies aaye ur chale gaye…lekin blockbuster kisi ne bhi nahi diya…….aur SRK ne tho 6 months se promotion kiya Ra-one….

@indicine,if robot is basically a tamil film..then ra.one is basically an hindi film…bt let’s wait nd c where ra.one goes..if worldwide ra.one is anything below 250cr…then basically ra.one is a big flop…nd judging by the trend 250cr is nt sure bt let’s wait nd c..bt ma point is indicine nd other trade sites should stop comparing bodyguard with ra.one..bodyguard is totally on another..it doesn’t nid upto 250cr to be called it…bodyguard is already a success..if u want to compare ra.one with any movie it should b robot..bcos 1..they are of the same genre-superheroes…2..they are almost of the same budget…3..they are majorly on d same scale…so instead of comparing of comparing bodyguard with ra.one..compare it with robot…but by ma own comparison…robot trend nd wom was far far betta than ra.one which indicates that ra.one is a major disappointment…
