Three of the biggest box office openers this year – Ra One, Ready and Bodyguard – are all masala flicks catering to a huge audience both in India and overseas. While Ready and Bodyguard cost less and were far less promoted, the opening numbers are comparable with Shahrukh Khan’s ambitious Ra One.
Day 1: Bodyguard released during EID and Ra One for Diwali, both holidays but the SRK starrer was affected by Diwali celebrations as collections witnessed a sharp dip for the afternoon and evening shows. Bodyguard of course, released on less number of prints went on to do 21 crores of business on Day 1 in India. Ready was a non-festive release and still did well. Winner – Bodyguard
Day 2: Belongs to SRK’s Ra One. The film had a historic Thursday amassing collections in excess of 24 crores – the biggest single day collections in the history of the Hindi film industry. Comparatively, Bodyguard did pretty well too. Ready was much lower. Winner – Ra One
Day 3: While collections of dubbed regional language versions plunged, Ra One in Hindi (especially the 3D version) was rock solid considering that it was a working day in most parts of the country. Bodyguard too was steady, witnessing approximately the same percentage of drop on the third day of its release. Ready picked up considerably as it was a Sunday. Winner – Ra One

As is pretty evident from the table above, Ra One is ahead by more than 15% compared to the second best – Bodyguard. If combined with overseas business, Ra One is way ahead of all Hindi releases so far this year.
Irrespective of what happens from here on, SRK has proved once again, that he belongs right up there somewhere in the Top 3. Don 2 is likely to be less promoted and it should be interesting to see how it matches up to these 3 money-spinners.

how much return on investment(ROI) you get from movie
so, RA.one might b flop/average/ hit or luckily superhit
but it may not b blockbuster like bodyguard/ ready/ dabang/3 idiots.
Bcoz it cost 200 crores
RA. one need to b houseful for the next 3/4 weeks to bcum blockbuster which is impossible
in today’s time
where audience are waiting for desi boyz/rockstar,etc
last but not the least ra.one ticket prizes are 20% more costly.
so you can understand it can’t b blockbuster
ra.one need atleast 12 conscutive houseful days to even breakeven
otherwise there are huge chance to bcom flop
@ sunil srk made this movie as a passion not to make double profit. its not possible for any film in india to collect 200crores in 3 days does not matter how big it is…………make sense

@ sanjay if a film is made @ budget of 50 crores then it must earn 63 crores to call a hit 75 crores to call a superhit 100+ crores to call a blockbuster & 150 crores to call an alltime bb… these figures are for only net collections of overseas & india combined.
by that ra.one can max be an average grosser.

Ra.one has showed a very good jump of 5 crores on sunday and has earned 91 crores nett in 5 days in india. Hurrah!
SRK haters should go to Boxofficeindia.com & see the real unbiased figures of Ra.one. It also gives the same figures. Indicine is not biased. These are true unbiased figures. I think Ra.one couldn’t break Day 1 records because it was affected by Diwali. Not because the movie was bad. If it released on some other day they could have earned more than this. SRK is the undisputed king of Bollywood. He proved it once again. To my Knowledge he never had a boxoffice flop in about a decade. But all the other Khans & Kumars have had ups & downs.

For those saying that we should not include collections of other versions for Ra One. It would be very unfair, because at the end of the day the film is the same just the language is different. For e.g a Tamilian would probably prefer to watch it in Tamil and wouldn’t watch the hindi version. But if there was no Tamil version, he would have gone ahead and watched it in Hindi (which was the case with Bodyguard). Also, it’s not a remake, just a dubbed version!

Who stopped bodyguard from releasing in other languages but it didn’t released because not a single person would have gone to see the remake movie. Why are you saying not to include regional version collections,they also come in india and we are talking of all india figures.

Teja-firstly ra.one has a budget of about 150 crores not 200 crores,ra.one can go to earn way beyond 125 crores but your bet was ready-about 120 crore. Also you should know how much a srk movie can earn overseas and the total collection can go beyond 225 crores.

@deepak..i’m back…av u heard that the regionals collections that u r talking about is reducin drastically…4rm abt 90lacs on fri to abt 30-40lacs on sat..can u c d reduction…check all single screens where ra.one was leading on friday fell heavily on saturday..bodyguard nw leads on every single screens 4 four days…nd if boxofficeindia.com should bring out d accurate results 4 sat..it wil b lesser than 14cr…nd as i’m hearing the sunday trending is nt dat gud…
