PK has grossed more than Rs 700 crore worldwide, which is only a little lower than the ‘combined’ worldwide business of both Happy New Year and Kick! However, it would be hard for anyone to beat Shahrukh Khan’s consistency overseas. His films have been performing well for nearly 20 years now.

Pk, 3 idiots, dhoom3 has done extremely well in overseas market wherever Xmas holiday was on (USA UK, Australia) Pk collection are less in gulf, Singapore Malaysia and even Germany compare to crap HNY. Fact that Amir didn’t rule in all overseas market like srk at his best phase. 3 idiots had less collection than MNIK in UK, gulf, Germany , Malaysia, morocco, Egypt. @babaji, you are right about srk releasing the wrong movie. The makers of HNY thought that just because 3i did well, may be Chinese suddenly liked hindi movies and will take whatever you offer them. Wrong.
Aamir’s 3 idiots content got connected to Chinese because of their education style / system being similar to that of India. He made a connect through the story of the movie. The makers understood and marketed the movie well in China before it could garner good response.
In the Chinese market, after 3i, Aamir is now known as a star who delivers good movies, and most of the young chinese students had seen 3i. This is the reason when Aamir’s next movie came, they all flocked to the theatres.
HNY makers just thought that Aamir movie got good business, so will srk, but sadly, Chinese people don’t know who srk is. He never connected to them.
If you want to grab a new market you just don’t dumb anything, but get a product that connects or relates with the locals, and later you push next stuff, which will do wonders.
I bet Aamir’s next movie will also do very good in China.

Regarding srk no doubt that he has great record behind him but could you tell me how big duplicate was in 1997 in overseas which was srk first film under dharma banner, not to forget srk worked with yash ji,aadi chopra in his early stage of career, and dharma also got big when Karan joined the business. Yrf no doubt struggling without top stars but how many film yash ji Aur aadi directed with less known stars. What was CDI collection which was yrf banner non romantic film in overseas. You can’t say that they need srk more than him, in early stage of career srk need them the most, yash ji created history in overseas with lamhe which was disaster in India. Srk all throughout in last 15 years are done romantic films with NRI guys most of time. Its not srk alone but others big names also required to have big impact, karan directed 4 films starting srk all became all time grosser but KHNH wasn’t all time grosser, similarly with yrf he got all time grosser with ddlj and vz both directed by chopras themselves. We have seen how big srk alone is when we have see the results of asoka,swades,cdi etc success there. He is struggling to get past his own mnik since last 5 years, now he goes back to yrf and kajol again. Its all about content which appeal to section of audience whether its India or overseas, fact is srk NRI appealing love stories/family drama scores most than his other usual stuff.
Regarding marketing Aamir hardly promoted his films in overseas, if he do you can have results like pk success in China, where VVC and Aamir tied up to local distributer and promoted film extensively.

Regarding fan base it didn’t come with one or 2 films you have to keep delivering good films which appeals to audiences, Aamur is not it not touch or pass srk he went much much ahead with his films when he did huge business with dhoom 3 and pk. Talaash weekend collection in overseas are better than srk’s jthj which was a festive release.

I’ll tell you some facts.
1. Aamir has done only 38 movies, SRK has 70. So, a comparison regarding no. of hits is totally baseless. Aamir doesn’t go around churning senseless movies after a gap of 6 months, like SRK(although he is also now following Aamir doing 1 movie a year)
2. Consistency of Aamir is way more than SRK when it comes to quality movies(Box-office is secondary) . SRK follows the policy of giving 1 quality movie and then following it with 3-4 craps. Aamir thinks, analyses and then selects a script that is brilliant.
To conclude, Aamir has always been better than SRK in terms of consistency in quality movies, and now he is ruling the box-office as well since the last 6-7 years because the audience can understand the difference between a quality and a poor movie. Period.
