The sequel to the 2011 film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ releases in theatres tomorrow. The theatrical trailer of the film received a good response, but the makers haven’t quite managed to sustain the buzz due to weak music and a weaker promotional strategy.
The first film worked with the youth in metro cities. So ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ will also depend on the urban youth for a good initial on Friday.
We expect ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ to open at Rs 3.3 crore on Day 1 and then grow over the weekend, if the content works with the youth.
There isn’t much competition from older releases. Akshay Kumar’s Singh Is Bling has shown big drops during its second weekdays and is nearly the end of its run at most centres. Jazbaa hasn’t sustained well from Monday either, which will drastically reduce its show and screen count this week. The only competition at multiplexes will come from the two-week old ‘Talvar’ which is still going strong. The target audience of ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2’ is completely different, so it’ll get one open week before the release of ‘Shaandaar’.

Your prediction is very reasonable . PKP was a surprise Hit and has become a Cult movie over the number of years . The trailer was good but i am missing Divyendu Sharma he was absolutely outstanding in PKP . Youth will definitely watch this movie but the problem is songs are pretty mediocre and it has only week to do business before Shaandaar which will severely dent its collections in the 2nd week . Also this is Pre Diwali period so it will be tough to do good business . I am not sure whether i will watch in Cinema or not but All The Best to the entire cast and crew of PKP 2 and i hope this movie also becomes a Hit at the Box Office . Expecting another classic monologue from Kartik Tiwari !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
