Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has recorded similar collections as Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year on Day 2 at the box office. The Hindi version of the film has collected Rs 31.03 crore and the Telugu/Tamil business (figures of which hasn’t been officially released) should take the total to around the 31.7 crore mark.
The drop in business of PRDP is lower than Happy New Year, even though the SRK starrer had the advantage of Day 2 being a Saturday.
Day 3 will be interesting because HNY couldn’t take advantage of a big holiday on Sunday. If PRDP can put up similar collections on Saturday, as HNY did on Sunday, it’ll be a good weekend trend for the film.

@Kiran Thorat- Aamir Khan is the biggest manipulator in the industry, its him who started the manipulation game with Ghajini in 2008.
Before Ghajini, no one from the audiences cared about Box office collections. Ppl only talked about which song, scene or dialogue they liked from the films. Now it’s only about collections,collections &collections.
@sky I agree with you on the point that indicine undersells itself. It has one of the most rational people working for it and it shows here. But I don’t think the reason it undersells itself can be attributed to something as naive or stupid as being a particular actor’s fan. Normally for each actor’s movie, the highest collection reported is generally the official figures published by the producer. So, indicine also posts the same and let the fans into believing the same so as to not alienate the particular actor’s fandom. Its very clever and subtle and in this way they don’t get dragged into any controversy of their own.

@Aman inspire or writing 20-25 comments in a frame, at least prove how is Aamir manipulated figures. He didn’t given official figure of any films likes of 3i,talaash,Delhi belly,Jtyjn and pk. The only benefit PRDP has is its extended weekend release. Otherwise it has the same WOM mixed to negative like HNY. So there r chances that it would collect 15-20 crores more than HNY but will remain below KICK or CE. Thats it.
Btw thank god I didn’t win the free tickets @indicine the reviews r really bad.
Lifetime will be the same as HNY, maybe 30 cr more because of extended week-end but the audiance don’t like it that much, the WOM and critics are mixed. Like HNY it won’t be a failure, but could have done much better if the film was good.
