A. Highly unlikely. The first 100 crore film was Ghajini in 2008. The first 200 crore film was 3 Idiots in 2009 – just a year later. The first 300 crore film was PK – which was 5 years after PK. So it would take something extraordinary, probably a film that gets a similar response like 3 Idiots and has a solo release and open weeks. But looking at films lined up for release in 2016 and the clashes that are scheduled to take place, even a 300 crore grosser would be a massive achievement. Unless the industry produces a film of the level of ‘Baahubali’ or ‘3 Idiots’ next year, a 400 crore grosser could still be a couple of years away.

@saksham: Do you really think it would have collected only 100cr without Deewali holiday??? PRDP collected around 40cr on Deewali day. It would have collected 30cr+ even without Deewali. So, you can remove 10-12cr maximum for Deewali holiday. But you have removed 115cr from it.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has collected Rs 130
crore in its first 4 days at the box office and
because of a strong opening weekend, the
film is certain to be a ‘HIT’ or better.
In the last few years, Salman Khan has been
on a dream run at the box office. Apart from
the fact that Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was his
9th consecutive 100 crore grosser, the film
was expected to be his 8th blockbuster in 9
films – Jai Ho was the only film that didn’t
attain blockbuster status, but that film had
sub-standard production values and didn’t
get a big holiday release either.
Since 2010, Salman on a festive weekend
has never failed to deliver a blockbuster. Can
