The film is only behind Dhoom 3, which continues to lead even two years after its release. Bajrangi Bhaijaan and PK are two of the most critically acclaimed and universally accepted films of all time.

snowballs the total investment on the film to a gigantic Rs 115 crore. With over Rs 40 crore in the kitty already on its first day and around Rs 143 crore in a matter of six days, the film might seem to have had a bumper run at the BO. But it has fallen short of its expected mark by miles.
Why? Technically, the film has suffered a huge blow, due to lack of a good word of mouth and has lost out on at least Rs 20-25 crore in key regions, which is the reason why despite having put up a huge total already, PRDP isn’t a success yet. For a detailed explanation, let’s do the mathematics.
For PRDP, the budget is Rs 115 crore, so the film needs to do at least Rs 230 crore worldwide nett to break even and enter the hit zone. Till now, the film has earned Rs 143 crore at the domestic BO and Rs 70 crore overseas, taking the worldwide collection to Rs 213 crore nett. The film, with its collections on Wednesday will finally manage to break even and whatever follows from here on will be a profit. Talk about the film’s satellite rights and music rights. Well, yes, the film has earned a lot from the two but Salman, who had not charged his fee for the film will take home the entire satellite right fee which sums up to a whopping Rs 50 crore. Sooraj Barjatya who’s directed the film, will take home the music rights fee. That leaves the producers with just one thing- the film’s performance at the Box Office to rely on for additional profits.
So whoever thought that Salman Khan’s PRDP has smashed all records, think again. Unlike other films, PRDP has failed to hold on to its momentum which is why there’s a huge drop in its collections every passing day. Also, the film might just crawl past the Rs 200 crore mark but that’s just about it. For a Salman Khan film of such high stature and budget, this will not be enough. For sure! But then again, PRDP won’t be facing losses as well. It’s just not going to be as successful as people already think it has become!
