Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has collected Rs 165.45 crore in its first week at the box office, a figure that is higher than Salman Khan’s KICK, but lower than Bajrangi Bhaijaan which released earlier this year.
The Hindi collections of PRDP is higher than the first week collections of Happy New Year which collected Rs 157.57 crore – including collections from all versions (Hindi, Telugu, Tamil) – which released during the same weekend last year.
The Telugu and Tamil collections of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo are in the Rs 3 crore range. In Andhra/Nizam, the audience has preferred to watch the film in Hindi instead of Telugu. Business of both the Tamil and Hindi version was affected in Tamilnadu, as major centres were affected by heavy rains, which literally submerged the city of Chennai.
Looking at the occupancy levels on Wednesday, the film is likely to add around 8 – 8.5 crore to total, which should take the business of the Hindi version to around the Rs 174 crore mark.
Note: Even though the makers of PRDP haven’t officially released the Tamil / Telugu collections of PRDP, we are adding Rs 3 crore to the total, as the first week totals of all other films (which released dubbed versions) includes business from Tamil and Telugu.
