The Hindi version of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has collected around Rs 42 – 43 crore on Day 1 at the domestic box office. The Tamil and Telugu version of the film has added around 1 crore to the total, which should take the Thursday box office collections closer to the 45 crore mark.
The film has performed well in circuits like Mumbai (including Gujarat where it was extraordinary), Delhi/UP (9 crore approx on Day 1), Rajasthan (2.1 cr) and East Punjab (4.7 cr). C.I (1.8 cr) and C.P were strong too. PRDP had the potential to gross much more had it performed better in circuits like Mysore (1.45 cr), TNK (about 1 cr) and to a certain extent even West Bengal (1.8 cr) – where the morning shows were slightly below the mark. Note: All are very early estimates.
Having said that, we are talking about extremely high percentage of occupancy here. The average All-India occupancy, for all shows across India throughout the day, even with the insanely high number of shows, was in the 80% plus range – something that no other film released this year has achieved, barring Bajrangi Bhaijaan which released on a non-holiday Friday.
The big day has come in the form of 40 crore plus opening, but it’s after the first day that the word-of-mouth comes into effect. Friday and Saturday, both working days, will be extremely crucial for a film like PRDP.
Last year, Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year dropped by 30% on the day after Diwali. The advantage for HNY was that it was a Saturday, a day on which multiplex business tends to peak during the night. For PRDP, it’s a Friday, so a drop of around 30% would be considered good and a 35% drop wouldn’t be a good sign for the remaining two days in the extended weekend.
PRDP will be dependent on the family audience, who are expected to come out in big numbers in the next few days. Reports suggest that the film has received a mixed response from the youth.
Meanwhile, with two major films remaining this year, the only two films to take a ‘BUMPER’ opening in 2015 are Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. It’s been Salman Khan all the way this year too, as he has dominated the top of all box office tables here on Indicine.
Also note, that the screen count of 4500 in India includes release of regional versions Telugu and Tamil.

Despite having sooraj as director, biggest star cast, more screens, more ticket price it couldn’t cross happy-New-year. after all SRK is the biggest Stardom-Khan which none can match. SRK is the no.1.
so who is no. 1? SRK : is for sure.
now salman fan will blame to krk ….but u know the dialogue most popular dialogue of diwale” if prdp can cross 200 cr then ramdev can be india prime minister”
Flop movie tomorrow you will see 40percent is down king rocks
Not an A list actress in d movie
Not much popular music
Still highest first day collection
it’s clear tht actress nd music doesn’t matter in superstar’s movies .
Commendable.
I thing whoever giving boxoffice india collection should not comment here.Because Indicine Giving official numbers if u believe in that then u comment otherwise stay away from this site…thank u
Salman the distinguished reigning Megastar.
Aamir n Salman have that x factor that makes ppl think “are these guys in the industry for that long and still top the rooster chat?” I believe the ansa is YES!!
Call Aamir “chotu” but he still stands taller than the rest @box office!
Call Salman “taklu” but he still shaves , trims , and cuts ?all the hairs of his anti-fans idols!! ? (excluding that of his other loyalists fan followers idols like my Ajay!! n few other real non jealous fans idols too who are always wishing him the best?).
Congo mate?
bhai fans are saying abt hny manupulation ….u r in indicine and indicine and all trades have assure that hny was released on more then 4200 screen around 4400 or 4500 but boi put 3850 like screen …with survey and calculating on 3850 sceen now if salman fan who have brains can actually know the collection rather then barking on prdp being highest ….but the fact is prdp is rejected frm audience which even bhai fans know and trying to show positivity but prdp is alredy on krk verdict and on his predict
This is just early estimation, actual will be 47-48cr for sure.
@imakkian ,where were you when ce cross ek tha tiger by just few lakhs with high screen no. ,paid preview , high ticket price …..
And wait for the official fig . It will be even more than 45 cr .it is just a trade figure which already broken by our bhai
Need to think first that hny’s figure was producer’s manipulative announcement, don’t b partial.
Hny collected collected only 36cr on dau one despite having Deepika+multistarcast. And PRDP gonna collect 47-48cr only because of megastar Bhai…
Despite having sooraj as director, biggest star cast, more screens, more ticket price it couldn’t cross happy-New-year. after all SRK is the biggest Stardom-Khan which none can match. SRK is the no.1.
PRDP has proved even k3 kalkulator used figures are nothing in front the Megastardom of Bhai…
A trend of Salman Khans “Good” films
2003: Tere Naam (Still a remake)
2009: Wanted (Still a remake)
2015: Bajrangi bhaijan
2021: Next gud film
So Bhai makes Good films in every 6 years.
Beech me chu films bna k Bhai-tards ko bhi to khush karna Hota hai.
So, early estimates mean it will be more than 45 Crores!!!
It is a longer film than HNY. So, extra screen counts hardly gave advantage to PRDP.
While HNY was a multistarrer, u cant count PRDP to be so….
@ANK read it..
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Sets New First Day Record
Thursday 12 November 2015 23.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has broken all box office records on day one as collections looks set to finish in the 39-40 crore nett range for the Hindi version. The film has not only broken the first day record of Happy New Year but also emerged with the highest single day of all time edging past the Sunday figures of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and PK which were 38.50 crore nett apprx. The Telugu and Tamil versions of the film have not collected much and will be in the 1-1.50 crore nett range.
The film has set circuit records for the first day in most of the circuits though the usual suspects for a Hindi belt film like Mysore and Tamil Nadu / Kerala will probably fall short of records.
The first day record was crucial as it has slightly higher ticket rates and extra screens compared to Happy New Year which released on the same day last year. A lower figure despite being huge number would have spelt trouble. The reports of the film are mixed but that is sort of expected with a big film and the test will come tomorrow as collections do come down a fair bit after this big Diwali holiday.
Haters are burning!! For salman negative wom, director of movie, critics review,,, all this think does not work actually!!!! This movie definitely blockbuster!!! 285-310Cr
@idiotzone:
Most of the tickets are booked for the extended weekend that’s called MEGASTARDOM which your queen has never seen!!!
I think PRDP’s bo will be similar to Happy New Year when all is said and done. It’s 4-day weekend will be bigger than HNY’s 3-day weekend, but HNY’s weekdays will be stronger. PRDP won’t make 15 cr on Monday for example. Will be closer to 10 cr. The reception is also mixed like HNY.
155-160 cr in week 1 and 45-50 cr in the rest of it’s run.
Gives a range of 190-210cr lifetime collections.
I don’t believe in day 1 of hny!!!!! It can’t be true!!!!!!! Hope srk future movie does well but movie like hny no way
Haters you will Insha Allah fail badly, keep trying your best to spread negativity but let me inform you that PRDP will score superbly at the boxoffice. True emotions are if expressed with sincerity, results will definitely follow. Sooraj wants to spread a positive message and in this highly negative environment, Allah will helps those who have positive intentions. Nature has to balance the environment , it’s a balancing system that is working in Salman and Sooraj’s favor.
So it’s official.
40 crs plus opening day :Salman Srk
30 crs plus opening day : Aamir Ajay Hritik
25 crs opening day. : Ranbir kapoor
18.5 crs (official) opening day : Akshay
Expecting Aamir to join the league of 40 crs 2016.. that’s for sure.
Expect Hritik Ajay to aim for 35 crs plus opening day next year 2016.
Expect Srk and Salman to maintain their 40-50 next year.
Expect Gobar to have irrelevant hyped pre release then come back to where he belongs ..his home sweet home (17-19) crs.
Biggies too watch 2016

Hritik Ajay since they have already proven such huge numbers it’s more genuinely justified that they can repeat it with some extra crs.
Same old crap!
Prdp has been rejected by the audiences!
It will crash from tomorrow!
In Pakistan,PRDP has opened to shockingly poor response..
