The Hindi version of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has collected around Rs 42 – 43 crore on Day 1 at the domestic box office. The Tamil and Telugu version of the film has added around 1 crore to the total, which should take the Thursday box office collections closer to the 45 crore mark.
The film has performed well in circuits like Mumbai (including Gujarat where it was extraordinary), Delhi/UP (9 crore approx on Day 1), Rajasthan (2.1 cr) and East Punjab (4.7 cr). C.I (1.8 cr) and C.P were strong too. PRDP had the potential to gross much more had it performed better in circuits like Mysore (1.45 cr), TNK (about 1 cr) and to a certain extent even West Bengal (1.8 cr) – where the morning shows were slightly below the mark. Note: All are very early estimates.
Having said that, we are talking about extremely high percentage of occupancy here. The average All-India occupancy, for all shows across India throughout the day, even with the insanely high number of shows, was in the 80% plus range – something that no other film released this year has achieved, barring Bajrangi Bhaijaan which released on a non-holiday Friday.
The big day has come in the form of 40 crore plus opening, but it’s after the first day that the word-of-mouth comes into effect. Friday and Saturday, both working days, will be extremely crucial for a film like PRDP.
Last year, Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year dropped by 30% on the day after Diwali. The advantage for HNY was that it was a Saturday, a day on which multiplex business tends to peak during the night. For PRDP, it’s a Friday, so a drop of around 30% would be considered good and a 35% drop wouldn’t be a good sign for the remaining two days in the extended weekend.
PRDP will be dependent on the family audience, who are expected to come out in big numbers in the next few days. Reports suggest that the film has received a mixed response from the youth.
Meanwhile, with two major films remaining this year, the only two films to take a ‘BUMPER’ opening in 2015 are Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. It’s been Salman Khan all the way this year too, as he has dominated the top of all box office tables here on Indicine.
Also note, that the screen count of 4500 in India includes release of regional versions Telugu and Tamil.

it may not cross hny. Hny occupancy was much more.
just fell short of hny even with more screen and more ticket price…..i think now salman fans can.t talk abt starpower…also there r so much negativity of the flim….it is mixed to poor ….
now,friday 20cr
saturday 25
sunday 30
then rip prdp ….na prem to the flim na dhan to the flim…and at box office flop payo
Omg…plz Salman haters post some known sense comments..Indicine plz allow only educated people to make comments……remember u talking abt sooraj ! Genius man….check ur level b4 making statements
Inspite of having no Deepika and no item songs and no masala. PRDP beat HNY first day.
Salman is the undisputed megastar of bollywood. Stars like saif, srk dream they could ever be as big as him.
@indicine : Why you hold few comments and publish them later? Either you block it completely or publish it on time. You didnt publish my 12:56 am comment, but newer comments were published. Not fair !!!
Biggest crap ever to be honest!
without mainpulation its better….43 crore day 1 original figure no manipulation.
Bhai alone beated the crappy new year manipulated records , now give some tissue to haters .hah
Chennai express collected just 20 lakhs higher than ett on 1st day with more screen and higher ticket rates..also prdp had no multiple starcast..so Salman is the biggest star…
Dont know in India but PRDP has been rejected in Pakistan. i could easily get tickets for tomorrow morning show.. it says all..
One and only Shah Rukh Khan.
hny 44.90 cr manipulative figure but prdp 45 cr r actual even boxofficeindia said dat its 1st movie to touch 40 cr………..
some commenting
srk = Salman
for ur kind info bhai logs
Srk still not crossed Salman khan
2014 release
chota Star kaun hai Sabko ptaa hai

???????
Awesome movie.. Salman ki best acting.. Must watch everybody.. Hny 1st day trade collection 37cr. Easily best.. Prem rocks..
This is called Bhai power….. ..
PRDP beat HNY 40 crore day 1 (trade figure) by a big margin. Salman Rules!
happy new year ka real-36cr tha or manipulated-44.7cr
prdp ka real-40cr+ hai agar fox ne srk ki tarah manipulate kiya
to 49cr pahunchega magar
ye salman hai so manipulate nahi hoga
usko jaroorat nahi hai srk ki taraf cheap stunt karne ki
47 crore is on. 43 crore is estimate
this is best collection for this genre you cant expect more than that
Familie audiences r not dumb .
They r spending their hard owned money for entertainment .
But this film doesn’t offer u anything.
Salman fans r also doesn’t seems very enthusiastic during the movie.
I dnt know about no collections but dnt cheat audiences by making this nonsensical movies.
At least write a story MAN .
i will say its a gud start but not as u would expect when salman and sooraj come together
sry bhai fans , it won’t break any records now
i predict 200 cr for prdp
bookmark this page and revisit it after 3 weeks . period
with more screens,
with better director
still it failed to cross hny.
this is really a shame for salman.
So, early estimates mean it will be more than 45 Crores!!!
It is a longer film than HNY. So, extra screen counts hardly gave advantage to PRDP.
While HNY was a multistarrer, u cant count PRDP to be so….
@ANK read it..
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Sets New First Day Record
Thursday 12 November 2015 23.30 IST
Box Office India Trade Network
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo has broken all box office records on day one as collections looks set to finish in the 39-40 crore nett range for the Hindi version. The film has not only broken the first day record of Happy New Year but also emerged with the highest single day of all time edging past the Sunday figures of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and PK which were 38.50 crore nett apprx. The Telugu and Tamil versions of the film have not collected much and will be in the 1-1.50 crore nett range.
The film has set circuit records for the first day in most of the circuits though the usual suspects for a Hindi belt film like Mysore and Tamil Nadu / Kerala will probably fall short of records.
The first day record was crucial as it has slightly higher ticket rates and extra screens compared to Happy New Year which released on the same day last year. A lower figure despite being huge number would have spelt trouble. The reports of the film are mixed but that is sort of expected with a big film and the test will come tomorrow as collections do come down a fair bit after this big Diwali holiday.
SRK >> Salman
SRK >> aamir.
SRK >> all.
proven.
HATERS KI JAL KE RAAKH HO GYI HAI MERE COMPARISON WALE COMMENT SE.HAHA
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
Salman fans talk about ”manipulation”, now it means salman failed to cross Hny 1st day business with manipulation. they trolled themselves. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahaahaha.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo : Theatre se bhaago.
I posted 42.55 of first day .
According to critic komal nahta First half is boring nd second half fantastic. According to indicine completely opposite of tht …! Its A mixed response I guess so movie can do 230-250 .
Despite having sooraj as director, biggest star cast, more screens, more ticket price it couldn’t cross happy-New-year. after all SRK is the biggest Stardom-Khan which none can match. SRK is the no.1.
oh my god…now they put deepika with star power infront of king….then anupam kher have more star power then deepika as special 26 was more hit then piku …..i think in prdp it was all abt sonam thumka that drag audience …with bhag milka bhag and its 100 cr +collection sonam kapoor become the difference of half the collection…salman khan fans are actually the cry baby who r crying after hike of price in lollypop…lol
