Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has denied making a statement that India is intolerant, adding that he didn’t want to leave the country either. The actor blamed the media for the furore.
“I never said India was intolerant or I wanted to leave the country. I also understand the emotions of those who were hurt. I would like to say that my statement was misunderstood and to some extent media is responsible for it. I was born here and I will die here” Aamir said, while interacting with the media during an event to celebrate 10 years of his 2006 classic Rang De Basanti.
While Aamir had earlier said his wife, Kiran Rao, suggested they should probably leave India due to ‘growing despondency’ and fear for her child, Aamir says he gets homesick when he leave India for more than 2 weeks.
“Our country is diverse with so many languages, culture…no other country has so much diversity as India. Whenever I go abroad I can’t stay away from my country more than two weeks. I get homesick”
“I was born here and I will die here” he said.
On November 24 last year, Aamir had said “As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can’t deny. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents. When I chat with Kiran at home, she says ‘Should we move out of India?’ That’s a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. That does indicate that there is this sense of growing disquiet, there is growing despondency apart from alarm. You feel why this is happening, you feel low. That sense does exist in me”

Oh..God, what happened Bollywood celebrates. Come to Myanmar and ask Muslim guys about intolerant or tolerant. One of my home near masjid not allow speakers and many masjid not allowed. So what is that???
So one by one all have back tracked on their original statements. Amir has seen what happened to Dilwale and it is natural that he wants to avoid un necessary negativity. I dont blame him.
But those ppl here who were un-necessarily trolling SRK for his u.-turn should also do the same for Amir as well.
I had said it earlier media create and destroy celebs and fans following. Only if we stick with them good times and bad times at the same time keeping in mind once our fans are famous they are always a target.. So why not before commenting on them sit down n try and see from their own perspective also try and understand they are not you and I. They are celebs.. Their way of life is complete opposite of ours be it interactions or reasoning. They just read newspaper,here complaints from their relatives (if they have time for that)watch TV and then from a phycological picture in their mind set. The media does not want to know that. They are like a fishermen throwing his rod waiting for the fish to catch.. They wait for any slight mistake! I felt sad the other day seeing fans of srk Aamir Salman bashing their idols..reason? submission to media accomplished objectives blindly without really looking at the other side of the coin.

The whole intolerance debate arises due to the murder of Kulbargi, Panesaar and Akhlakh by some terrorist groups and some back to back anti national statements of Adityanath, Prachi Sadhwi, sakshi maharaj, monoharlal khattar, sanjib balyan, mahesh Sharma, Azam khan etc. But you are blaming congress. Its good Aamir clarified that he don’t want to leave the country, I hope next time he should speak in media correctly. His words should not be politically motivated and should not be exaggerated. Next time Aamir please think before speak when it comes to India and its people.
