Neerja has become the 2nd film this year to cross the 50 crore mark at the domestic box office. The film has proved yet again why content is truly the king, as two films that have crossed the 50 crore mark this year have both been critically acclaimed, carried excellent word-of-mouth at multiplexes and were also based on real-life stories.
The audience has made it crystal clear that they are willing to spend on movie tickets, but only if a film deserves their time and money. There is pretty much no limit for films that carry a ‘must watch’ tag as even small films like Neerja, with limited 600 odd screen release, can go on to gross 60-70 crore at the box office.
Most other films this year have been rejected on Day 1 itself.

Deadpool on day 1 did 4.5 in 700 screens with 60% occupancy while neerja did 4.5 also in 700 screens but with 30% occupancy only ??? How it’s possible ? It was release in 1400 screens atleast.
NEERJA deserves to cross 70 cr at least.
A movie filled with content and sense of history must become at least a Block Buster not just Super Hit.
It encourages more such factual cinema as boxoffice success is guaranteed if executed perfectly like NEERJA.
