@ Deewakar……….nothing is pathetic, if one gets good amount in return for PR-giri…..the fans are happy….the site is updated…..and good income too…..all in all a win-win situation for websites……..besides who cares about these views and likes, except some fans who are continually glued to the internet……the regular movie goers is unconcerned about all this……majority of them go because they are either fan of a movie star, or if wom is good, they would watch the movie, no matter how pathetic the reviews or trailers are.
In fact, most of my friends who are not really an SRK fan, too, are amazed with FAN trailer. If movie lives up to the expectations generated by the trailer, then sky is limit.

@Tiger—you mean to say Don, Chak De India, Om Shanti Om had big directors and big heroines??? And how old and experienced were Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra when SRK started working with them? He delivered blockbusters with them. SRK gave hits with a lousy director like Farah Khan and Deepika was not the star she is now before Chennai Express released. Yeah, SRK is the only actor of his generation who worked with Yash Chopra, but I hope you know the reason. Simply because he was the best as Yash Chopra chooses the best. So stop this weird logic of big heroines and big directors. Heroines aren’t big enough to rule box office, they simply enhance the quality of the films. And as for an actor of SRK’s calibre a talented and accomplished actress was required every time. Non-actresses and girls who are glamorous only and not talented aren’t suitable for SRK. If heroines and cast meant everything then why couldn’t Salman-Akki-Preity trio became such a big flop in front of a Sole SRK film Don?

Darling, don was directed by Farhah akhtar, a rare critically acclaimed cum commercially successful director. Also PC was the lead actress of it. CDI was a YRF movie, should I say anything about YRF?? OSO was starred almost entire Bollywood, Farah khan returned after super successful mein hoo na.
BTW, if you loongiwalas can blabber that Bhai is successful due to south remakes WTH we can’t say that choosa hua aam is successful due to yrf-dhama???

@Tiger, bro it’s true that Farhan is a good and talented director, but he is not a’big’ director. He couldn’t make Dil Chahta Hain a clean hit inspite of having Aamir, Saif, Preity all together. Most people go to hall either to watch their favourite star or to watch a movie that is rich in content or entertainment. They hardly have any knowledge about the banner or production house. But yes business skill matters in terms of avoiding disasters or flops. Even in case Sultan becomes a huge success I myself won’t attribute it to YRF. About Om Shanti Om,–is it the case that the whole bollywood being present in that award show and party song made SRK the biggest star or the other way round? i.e, because SRK was already the biggest movie star so the entire industry converged on screen for him? Again Farah Khan was only successful due to SRK who made Main Hoon Na a success with the flop queen Sushmita Sen. She failed with Akshay.
About the debate between South remake and YRF-Dharma both party has some credibility to some extent because it points to the ‘content’ and ‘content’ always matters. That’s may be the reason that SRK has far more ‘quality’ films when compared to Salman.
And I won’t ever say Bajrangi Bhaijaan was a ATBB because of Harshali only since it’s the only time I saw Salman striking an amazing chemistry with his co-actress which SRK manages to do in his every single film. So your last logic is somehow right. If SRKians can attribute BB’s success to Harshali then Salmaniac’s can say Deepika had equal share in CE’s success. But not HNY, because her screen space was too small in that film.
The only problem I have with Salman when compared to SRK is that he is not a good actor, he doesn’t have universal appeal since he is not successful overseas( only BB won’t do). And he failed in a whole decade 2000-2009. Otherwise there’s no doubting his stardom and he is more popular with the kids.
Another point, PC back then(when she did Don) was not as popular as she is now. She had only 3 clean hits back then, that too with the help of Akshay and Hrithik. So she was nothing in front of Salman-Akshay-Preity.
@Meera : You forgot that Don (2006) was a remake of a classic Don (70s) and was one of the awaited movie of 2006 (not solely because it is a SRK movie). Also compare Farhan and Shirish kunder you will get the answer who is the better director. If cast is everything then movies like Trimurti, Jaani Dushman – Anokhi Kahani wouldn’t have failed. I know indirectly you want show Jaane-e-man’s failure is due to Salman and Don’s success is solely due to SRK. Grow up !!!!!!!!!!!
